As you might know I have this application where you can easily create your own shiplabels which will export an XML-file. Now that XML-files are marked as 'old overview files', does this mean that importing XML-files will be completely removed in the future?
Kind regards, Grauth Thorner

And he asked around....
there are no "immediate plans", but I would like to remove it at some point yes.

Cheers thanks for the fast answer! Could you tell me if there is or will be a way to import a yaml-file just for the shiplabels? It works if I only have the 'shipLabelOrder' and 'shipLabels' keys in a file, but only when 'Overview profile' is checked and the rest unchecked, otherwise everything regarding the overview will be unchecked in the settings (overview-icons and overview-backgrounds and such). I'm not sure wether this is a bug or intended but what I would love to see is a way to just select the file my application exports, so the user only has to choose the right yaml-file without the risk to lose any other settings, just as it is now with xml-files.
Kind regards, Grauth Thorner

I poked Karkur about this and she said she isn't sure if that is something that will make it in, but also said the removal of the current XML import isn't currently planned.
So hopefully by the time we get around to removing the old import we will have a better answer for you.

Before you remove the xml import you have to make your current system not ****. As in not limited to 5 overviews as in the colors and names the xml stuff can do as in the dozens of overview layouts the xml can do that you stupid in game system can't. And it also has to not be limited to the 5 or w/e the stupid limit you put on it for active overviews it has to be the entire setup that is portable.
If you dont people will hate you. |

There would also need to be a less misery-inducing way to tweak a large number of profiles rapidly, as is necessary when CCP adds a new ship or item to the game that gets its own type field, which in turn needs to be added to a ton of presets. Far easier to do in a text editor out of game, and then re-import, than doing so for 10, 20, 30+ presets ingame, as was necessary when the deployables were added, for instance.
From the standpoint of overview pack maintenance, glad to hear there's no plan to remove import/export in the short term. |

Cheers thanks, for now I'll just stick with generating xml-files then.
