Ah, backdoors and shortcuts. About damn time they started getting used again. You're talking as if people aren't already preparing to invade God I effing hope so. B0TLRD is an abomination unto Uggan, and I can't wait to see it burn. Gewns will have some serious geographic and logistical advantages if they invade dronelands from Venal, no doubt. We'll see how it plays out though.

DNSBLACK wrote:It is going to take 2-3 year to un tuck this game. The isk pooling and the pooling of players in this game has happen over the last 4 years. All of those pools will slowly be drained. The one that will take the longest will be the breaking up of major alliances that have collected some of the best players in the game from organizing their own groups to be part of the easy mode. I can only hope that the hate still burns and the fire in old school grudges still lurks and over time the need to break out and go at it again comes to the top once again.
It is going to take 2-3 years to train new eve players and build groups to make a go of it. They will play eve in hard mode and be better for it. The game will change over night in programming only, it will be years before you see old school eve back up and running. Stay the course CCP and burn it all down I'm not sure it'll take 2-3 years to drain those isk pools, not if folks pull an Archduke Ferdinand moment and force some good supercap armageddons. I'm also not sure it'll take 2-3 years to train folks to Eve Correctly (tm), there's lots of folks from the "good old days" who are itching to get things back to where they were. There's also a lot of folks who stopped bothering to take on The Big Boys when it became BlobCaps Online, who will likely be reengerized by the changes. And of course there's those folks who simply relocated to lowsec (or are in NPC null) who remember fondly holding their own corner of null and will likely make a run at it once it's feasible again.
In short, just about anyone who really loves the chaos and destruction that this great game allows to unfold is just waiting in the wings for someone to light a match. CCP is giving us plenty of gasoline to soak things with, via this change and the ones coming down the pipe.
It will be glorious.

Lol, listen to nullbears whine and whine and their BWWWAAAAAAAAAAAmbulance go BWAAAAAAAA, BWAAAAAAAAA!!!!
Let me tell you how carebear mission running was back in the day.... Difficult and rewarding. You could make a ton of isk, build your own ships, ammo, modules and enjoy a couple of hours a day of playtime feeling something was achieved. Then nullbears started infiltrating CCP management, created the CSM and all the other three or 4 letter entity abbreviations few players outside of nullbears and CCP care about. What have they nerfed for the normal carebear.... -Bounties, brought them down a lot -Number and quality of NPCs, for example in missions you no longer get wave after wave of BS, faction cruisers and frigs -Loot, on some missions you used to need an industrial to cart away all the bounty -Drones, no longer drop drone goo -Can no longer get faction drops outside of the new burner missions -Made scanning down multibillion carebear ships so easy -Made tackling, pointing and destroying multibillion isk carebear ships so easy -CONCORD no longer gives a flying ***** if you get ganked, they leisurely show up after griefers get their shiny kill mail -Changed the bonus rewards, getting tech 2 impants and other goodies is no longer possible or almost impossible -Asteroids were nerfed, the good stuff is long gone -Shooting structures is no longer worthwhile, once in a while something would drop that made spending hundreds of rounds worthwhile -Nerfed industry so that you almost have to buy your ships as it's ridiculous how expensive it has become to make them yourself these days, not to mention ammo, modules, etc. -Quality of missions, you now get a bunch of lowpayout missions and eventually get an extravaganza or an assault. Burner missions, they can be farmed because CCP in their wisdom have scheduled up to 4 in a row and still few players run them, lol.
In other words CCP at the behest of their nullbear masters and their BWAAAAAmbulance royally screwed up and nerfed highsec telling carebears, adapt or GTFO. Don't believe me? Read the dev blogs and posts....
So to hear and read about nullbear tears because they are being slowed down a bit is sweet music; their space, ships and most everything to do with nullbearing has gotten a buff in the last 4 or 5 years at the expense of highsec. Welcome to our world nullbears and I hope CCP tells nullbears adapt or GTFO - like they did and still do to us. |

Who better has the resources to do a freighter op: a small entity, or a large coalition?
A freighter op is, by design, supposed to be boring. If anything happens, other than the freighter getting to its location without incident, the op failed. It's escorts are there to scare away the small stuff that might happen to stumble on it, not to fight. A freighter op isn't like some escort quest in any other MMO. It is moving a significant value of corp/alliance level assets. You would be a fool to risk anything happening to it, so you plan the op to be as tedious and boring for everyone involved as possible.
GÇóMaking something tedious will not stop players doing it if it's very clearly the best option. They'll do it, and they'll hate it - CCP Greyscale "it's only because of their stupidity that they're able to be so sure of themselves." The Trial - Franz Kafka-á |

The jump changes will have quite a significant impact on casual players like myself. I'm happy to adapt to changes in the game - they help keep it fresh - but there's only so long someone like me will spend on personal logistics vs pew-pewing before getting tired of it.

Wow - I read the player suggestions about this sort of thing a while back, but didn't expect such a shake-up to happen. And of course there are lots of people here not looking at the wider implications of this beyond "but I wanna hot drop anything anywhere in the universe", implications which I broadly welcome.
I'm not sure about the numbers, they'll certainly need tweaking, but it's never made sense to me that massive attack fleets can be projected deep behind enemy lines when Black ops (which, you know, are supposed to operate under cover and behind enemy lines) can't go nearly so far and can achieve so much less...
It does seem an odd move to limit player jump bridge networks, when we know the game is heading towards player-owned jumpgates - I'm not sure how these parts of the grand plan fit together. This will, I guess, trouble the mid-to-large corps, while proving a boon to the truly small operators. I'd hate to see all these changes go ahead, only for the really big players to just build Jumpgates to replace lost ability, but we don't know the details about their limitations yet, so fingers crossed...
But the payoffs:
- making it harder for the biggest corps to cordon off excessively large areas of space "just because",
- forcing capital fleets to consider their deployment less casually then they've been able,
- the increased relevance (or maybe that's relevance at all) of diversionary raids,
- the ability for new capital ship commanders to go get their feet wet without the certainty of losing it to a meaningless hot drop...
Yeah, not sure that the current solution is the right one, but sounds like a pull in the right direction, and kudos for working towards improvement. |

JD Cal is still integral for Black Ops. It's required to 4 and while the unpacked jump range of a Redeemer is 3.5 the true Jump range/ Bridge range is over 7 at base with the Cal requirement. 7.85 with JD Cal to 5. They have said that range will remain.
The stupidity of this all really becomes clear when you look at it. Stupid in what they say they are doing and why they say they are doing it. It's not about force projection. If anything, this sort of change will increase force projection. If you see a 200 man Super Cap fleet on a gate, what do you think the response is going to be from a small alliance? GTFO of the way maybe?
Avatar and Redeemer share the same base Jump range, they share the same Calibration modified jump range. An Avatar has less than 8 AU jump Range now. The ship that is really being punched in the face here is the Carrier.
Here is my question. If Supers can use gates, WTF is the point in cyno jammers? |

As it stands right now these changes will ensure that the West becomes an eternal empire; while the bridge hit is obnoxious, much of our key infrastructure is accessible within reasonable jump cooldown limits due to geography, where life on the East will be rendered a smoking hellscape. Should our foes try to attack or dislodge us, their capital fleets will no longer be able to 'ninja' away from our sledgehammer of overwhelming force, as they do in the present system. We will also be able to use our own local capital fleets with total impunity and no risk of a cross-galaxy counterattack. Defense, you say? The existing CFC Forward Operating Base system will be expanded to ensure that we can 'bounce' simply using our jump clones, and we already have set logi routes to the primary FOBs from wars past. The situation for us is excellent. The situation for our various assembled enemies is a Goddamned Nightmare, and yet many of them are so foolish that they'll loudly support these changes, deluded into thinking it hurts us more than them.

All caps using gates is great, now allow supers to dock seen as though they will now turn into sitting ducks on move ops
fatigue from jump bridges is lame, just oldownapply the cool down timer and also only make it a cooldown |
