It's about time CCP made some changes that mixed things up! Can't wait to see the rental empires crumble, and the amazing battles that are about to ensue.
I bet their will be far more gate camps now as well. |

I don't think it's going to quite work out like you think. I see alliances digging in and creating borders that can't be breached by smaller corps/alliances. The day of the big battles will end and no one will move from where they are. I could be wrong, but I don't think I am. It only makes region defense easier for the larger alliances.
Though I agree some change was needed, I don't think the way they plan to go about it is the answer. I'm sure they want to implement it a little at a time, so if it doesn't work, they can bail out what would essentially be a sinking ship. Imho, this issue needs further thought and consideration..a LOT of it. If I had a nickel for every time someone said women don't play eve, I'd have a bag of nickels to whack the next person who said it.. |

If these jump drive changes don't make them crumble then the incoming residency based sov mechanics will finish the job without a doubt. They might hang on for a year, living and fighting with old stockpiles and resources. But eventually they will become a thing of the past, thank god. Even after 7 years of watching CCP try ( and fail) to to 'encourage' people to do certian things, only to watch people do the exact opposite, I find it amazing that people are still naive enough to believe that these changes will work like they think they will.
How amny examples do people need before they learn?

Umm hey whats the point of being able to take space away from the null sec coalitions if you can't Jump a gimp frieghter or rorqual far enough to get your hard won gains out.
It's dumb to think the 'rental empires' will pull any farther than 5 light years back from the lowsec borders. Everyone is going to be equally screwed by this.
Anyways there is a lot of people straight up unsubbing over this bs and their totally useless 5.5 bil skillbook implants and 130bil ships that are useless. So the real question becomes how do people get their fanfest money back if they aren't fans anymore? |

What? It seems to work on a huge proportion in reality, and in this case we'd be using it for fiction so it's even more justified. GÇ£Some capsuleers claim that ECM is 'dishonorable' and 'unfair'. So the real question becomes how do people get their fanfest money back if they aren't fans anymore? You do realize players used to occupy basically the same amount of space before jump freighters existed, and we managed to do logistics and build stuff, export goo, and blow each other up just fine back then. The changes are a return to planning, group effort and sanity. For some players these changes do in fact mean their cozy play style is ending, and it angers and confuses them. The ones paying and collecting rent, probably more so.
Anyone ragequitting before the changes are finalized, probably didn't want that sub anyway.

People keep about about the past and forgetting a couple of major points.
1. The first one is back then there were thousands of Capital Ships in Eve.
2. The size of alliances were much smaller back then.
3. A lot of the intel tools which are currently being used did not exist then.
All this is going to happen is that it will become even harder for anybody to take space from each other as home systems will be defended with Capital ships, there will be no longer any surprise attacks and you will not be able to counter huge subcap fleets. |

This so much.
CFC and NC/PL are already planning for these changes and I suspect when they go live if you think it was difficult to fight them now it will be a lot worse.
I suspect that Providence will fall before these changes are released simply because these changes make their space so much worthwhile due to their location.

Did people have Jump Gate capable hauling nano remote repping Pantheon carriers and implants that let them align and warp as fast as sub capital ships (there will be convoys, convoys of ships with remote reps and FIGHTERS not unarmed freighters)? Or Wormholes? Or transports that could jump through Black Ops portals and wormhoels then speed warp through gates till the Fatigue is gone just int ime to reach another Blops and jump again?
That's the problem here. People wrongly think of the past as some glorious thing (not realizing that the things that were added, like jump capable freighters, were added for a reason, because people complained about how hard it all was), then the mistakenly think a change to a 'modern' game mechanic will reintroduce these glory days that never existed in the 1st place lol.
These changes will shaft a lot of people and the game as a whole. It won't bother the well established player run empires who are already figuring things out (I know one guy who is just training his Recon Cyno alts to use his jump freighters, so that he can skip completely across null sec with the only delay being the 5 minutes it takes his cynos to go do and switch ships with his alts).
It will create more stagnation, MORE control of the wealth and access of null by 'the few' as the big coalitions control the parts of null nearest empire and choke deep null (and much of NPC null) off to everything but random guys who find wormholes to it for day trips.
Some of you guys are celebrating the blue donut becoming a blue brick o ultimate power. It's like watching a real life Occupy group celebrate the news that corporate profits are way, WAY up and show no signs of slacking while working class salaries are getting cut lol.

Yep, Goons are already planning to blot out various suns with various legions of Megathrons lol.
These changes will cause a shift. The Coalitions will control the 'near periphery' areas (null areas near empire) and RENT OUT Deep null which they have access to (regardless of whatever occupation sov CCP does, the coalitions will just switch from 'sovereignty' back to the soft hand control of 'suzerainty' of the actual olden days).
These changes and the reactions of some of the EVE community is an actual in game example of what happens in the real world when politicians promise people unrealistic things (as if 'hope' and 'change' are tangible things lol) and the people (tired of the status quo) buy it hook, line and sinker, only to be severely disappointed a few months or years later when the situation not only didn't improve, but got worse.

This constant denial is cute and hilarious. This and the 'blue donut will be a blue brick' crap. How is it going to be easier to defend when they can't insta-relocate to the opposite side of the map? And if they do decide to defend, getting back to where they came from won't be happening anytime soon, making where they left even more vulnerable than the system they went to defend.
This denial of reality is just HILARIOUS!
