So I've lost my Coercer in Burning Down the Hive yesterday to a bunch of scrambling drones and decided to upgrade to a cruiser / learn some drone skills. I chose the Arbitrator and now I need some advice on fitting it for the Dagan mission. I know his resists change depending on which empire you choose earlier in the mission, so if somebody can explain that in detail and what weapons should I fit for what choice that would be perfect. Keep in mind the fit should stay cheap since I'm only in my 3rd day of EVE and not be heavy on skills. Thanks in advance. |

Arbitrator is really the wrong ship for the very low skilled. Its primarilly a drone & ewar ship not a combat cruiser :( |

Uhm, you are 3 days in EVE.
That arbitrator will die too...period
Bigger =/= better
If you have bad skills for a coercer and it dies, then an arbi isn't going to perform much better.
Dagan is intended to introduce you to fleet (so with other players) gameplay...ask for help. Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy Help channel: Help chat - Reloaded Public roams channels: RvB Ganked / Redemption Road / Spectre Fleet / Bombers bar |

One thing I see a lot of newbies do is fly straight in to an enemy and sit at a standstill on an enemy's nose. This is a bad tactic as it means that Dagan will score direct hits and apply most of his damage.
You can take Dagan out in a Destroyer... but you have to orbit close (say... 500 to 1000m) so that most of the damage directed against you is mitigated.
That said... here's an Arbitrator fit I pumped out:
[Arbitrator, New Setup 1] Damage Control I Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane I Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane I Medium Armor Repairer I Drone Damage Amplifier I
Medium Capacitor Booster I, Cap Booster 400 10MN Afterburner I Stasis Webifier I Omnidirectional Tracking Link I, Optimal Range Script
Focused Medium Pulse Laser I, Multifrequency M Focused Medium Pulse Laser I, Multifrequency M Rocket Launcher I, Inferno Rocket Rocket Launcher I, Inferno Rocket
Hammerhead I x5
- everything should fit with minimal skills - use Meta equipment when you can - this is a close range ship, you have to be well within 5km to deal damage with your high-slots - this fit might not have enough tank... be prepared to warp out if you must Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective.

I never sit in a destroyer/frigate, most of the time I orbit the target at 1000 or (rarely) 2500 meters. I've picked Arbitrator only because of the drones (I'll have Drone V tomorrow morning and start working on Medium Drones / Drone Interface).
AFAIK Dagan's weakest point is Explosive followed by ?Kinetic? but again those resists depend on the faction you chose. |

Generally, Dagan's weakness is the opposite of the racial damage profile of the race you have chosen.
If you chose Amarr: Dagan is weak against Explosive/Kinetic damage If you chose Minmatar: Dagan is weak against EM/Thermal damage If you chose Caldari: Dagan is weak against Thermal/Kinetic damage If you chose Gallente: Dagan is weak against Kinetic/Thermal damage Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Keep faith Brother.. Its doable to kill him as a newborn in EvE. There are some simple question you can ask Your self;
1: What range is the targets optimal, and how can I counter it. 2: What dmg type is the target using, and how can I counter it. 3: What e-war is the target using, and how can I counter it.
Shipping up, migth not always the the rigth answer. Think outside the Box.
Find the weakness and exploit it. If its not obvious staring you in the face, you can always go in with an free impairor and get a certain Clue on what to expect. And then devise Your strategy from there. |

Umm.. If Dagan is more vulnerable to Explosive than Thermal, shouldn't I pick the Nova Rockets instead of Inferno? |

The fit I gave is only an example/template. Change and improve it as needed. Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective.

I'd be tempted to use Drone Link Augmenter I's in the highs instead of the Pulse lasers. and probably rapid lights (maybe) but the above fit works pretty well right at the start :) |

Don't fly what you can't afford to lose. Seriously. How will you manage if it dies in the mission? Cruisers are a lot slower than frigates, slower to accelerate into warp too, they handle very differently.

Cant comment on the fit, but this is the ship that Dagan is flying: http://games.chruker.dk/eve_online/item.php?type_id=30743 |

Where did you get that from? I chose Gallente last time, fired 4 different missiles at Dagan and Nova missile dealt the most damage. Dagan is flying a Society of Conscious Thought Cruiser, no matter what faction you choose. |

If you are not shy of taking a helping hand then jump into the Eve-Uni help channel and ask for Heo Hyungie - he offers free help to anyone with Dagan. He is not taking loot or rewards and he is a pretty know pilot for the dagan kill :) Should i do anything when all 3 things on my ship are fully red?
My thanks to all Eve players for the continued forums drama - i had no idea how much i missed it while i was away :) |
