This is the first time, in my 8 years playing Eve and always mucking about in the forums, that I can recall a whole week's worth of Ships & Modules threads fitting on to one page of my web browser.
The Missions & Complexes forum isn't doing much better either, and these two have always, easily, been the most vociferous.
Am I missing something, or reading too much into what this entails? |

1) players numbers dropped;
2) forum community isn't exactly welcoming - check how replies are getting much more "likes" than posts and most replies are either "post in another forum" or "we don't like your idea / you are wrong" (why do people even bother to post this instead of moving on to actually interesting topic - I'm not sure);
3) half of threads on the first page are locked at the moment. I've never seen anything like this on official forums of other games. Not only EVE looks abandoned by devs but forums too. So probably people aren't eager to post. |

I've noticed as well. I tried to start a few threads in the past, but they inevitably get locked for arbitrary reasons. Just look at GD, half the threads on the first page are locked. I don't bother anymore. |

CCP moved more towards actually moderating their forums and getting volunteers to get better coverage, so they also react much faster these days. As a result it has become too serious and a fairly boring place to post in general. Now it's more about posting according to the rules and less about fostering community interaction. That moderation strategy works fine with feature discussion threads or with the newbie Q&A forum section, where you really want to stay constructive and on topic, but it has also put a serious damper on the more relaxed and playful player-to-player communication. EVE is supposed to be all about player interaction and drama, but on these forums that often just leads to an early lock. If you want to talk about EVE like it is played or are just looking for a more lively and casual hanging out forum environment, you're definitely better off using unofficial forums. |

I like that. Not fast enough. Half of my day there is barely any ISD to be seen and the amount of assholes, who believe they can outsmart them with hypocrisy, is increasing.
See Nevil for example.
The end result will be tighter rules and harsher enforcement thanks to the assholes, but somehow I doubt that it would be a bad thing.
Are we discussing forum moderation? That'd be rather bad ... otoh without being able to do so those who ruin it for others just gain even more ground. I am Sol. I cook my bacon naked. Well said. Feeling lonely in an empty local I posted a thanks to CCP for the better WH nebula, cloaking animation etc. but I posted in a lighthearted Franglais ( in reference to the Oceanus French patch) . immediate thread lock because it broke a forum rule about posting in English........ so apart from this post ( !) I'm not going to waste my time anymore. |
