Does it make any financial sense to use tech II cruise missiles or tech II torpedos in solo lvl4 missions ? |

hey hey
I must say it makes no financial sense to use TII anything in missions and TII cruise dont reap any rewards.
Consider this : eve is about making tiny gains. and the moment u dont fit a TII precision and your scrammed, killed and the faction/TII fitted navy raven you were flying is in valhallah making babies with valkyries. I think you'll regret that you didnt do all you can to keep your ship alive :)
800isk precision cruise Vs 100mil raven
I know which i choose.

Javelin torps yes. Makes you run through cruisers like twice as fast so the time saved more than makes up for the ammo cost imho. Precision cruise no (they are only minimally better than Jav torps against small targets and much worse against large ones). And the high damage stuff is worthless for missions. --------- ZOMG my sig was concordokkened! Link removed due to bad language on remote site. -wystler

Personally I have never seen the need for torps on L4 missions, as most of the ships are cruiser of frig sized. However, I trained for t2 cruise as soon as I could, but found I very rarely use them The penalties outweigh the benefits in my opinion - I hate the slow speed and the cap penalty makes tanking more difficult on the harder missions.
I carry T2 cruise when I know there is a tough end NPC to kill - Vengence for example - but other than that its T1 cruise and T2 med drones all the way for me

Tech 2 heavies are definetly worth it if you run a Ferox.

Many of the harder missions are heavy on Battleships and especially Battlecruisers now. And Even if you have like 1 BS and 3 cruisers, you have to kill the same amount of hitpoints on each size. So T2 torps which do equally well on cruisers and battleships are well worth it except on really ****ty cruiser galore missions like Pirate Invasion. And even those can be done faster with jav torps when you put on 2 or 3 target painters. --------- ZOMG my sig was concordokkened! Link removed due to bad language on remote site. -wystler

It seems like t2 equipment and drones are great for making missions easier/faster, but t2 ammo gimps you too much to be worthwile using.

My Phoon always has a mix of T1 and T2 ammo aboard - especially when I am in LowSec. Cruiser/BC have a mix of T1 and T2 ammo with them too for that extra seksness. To bad that T2 projectile ammo is really limited in the choice of damage types.
I build the ammo, so I get it at production cost. But even if I have to buy the ammo, the gain in time is worth the higher cost. Throwing T2 torps at buildings normally is not worth it. --*=*=*--
Even with nougat, you can have a perfect moment. |
