For those interested in the life of a pirate.
You don't actually need to go to losec or null to be a pirate... You also don't need to suicide gank, declare wars or impact your security status...
Dining on faction-fit wildebeest in the comfort of hisec is easier than you think, once someone shows you how

There are 5 stages to grieving the sad life of a carebear:
1. Denial/Isolation
You must confront the reality that a carebears life of isolated mission running or mining is ultimately devoid of spiritual purpose.
2. Anger
A carebears life is constantly filled with anger, worried about being ganked, mission-flipped, war-decced, bumped, scammed or otherwise anally probed by non-carebears. Anger is meant to be released, in glorious sprays of Void (s) across the backs of other players, not accumulated through drudgery.
3. Bargaining
Your must accept that continued bargaining for your safety, your pod, or trading in general will leave you empty and feeling ultimately impotent. Continued existence in EvE through bargaining rather than doing, is akin to ************, and you know what your mother told you would happen if you did that too much.
4. Depression
That point where after maxing mining skills, having an Orca boost alt, or the pimpest incursion battleship in the land doesn't mean a thing in the grand scheme of EvE. No one respects you. Not when everyone else is blowing other players up, and you are grinding minerals (or rats).
5. Acceptance.
That HOLY moment you reach when you finally ask...THE QUESTION. "I wonder if *I* can do that too, to someone else?". The lightbulb goes on. You fit your first pvp ship, cry havoc and get into a carebears mission pocket and shoot them in the face.
Glory.

I started playing in 2005, not long after that I went to 0.0 as a covert ops scout and was damn good at it but I had no clue on actual combat, fittings or anything. Then in 2007 we were forced to lay low a bit and we made alts to "clown around". Tzar'rim was born and started doing "high sec shenanigans", I quickly realised that this was WAY more fun and also made me a much better player because suddenly I was forced to make my own decisions. Sold the char end of 2009 to make room for a new one.
Stop grinding, stop thinking this game is a job. Instead find something entertaining to do. High sec fun is one of those options. |

Ahhh, the ole Ninja Salvage / Mission Invasion trick of trying to incite PvP action in high sec without involving Concord.
Yeah, good luck with keeping that little Frigate intact after jumping into a level 4 mission pocket that has Neut's, Web's and Scrams active from NPC's that quickly switch target lock onto other ships landing on grid.
By the way, most 'Carebears' won't engage a 'suspect' with their bling fit Battleship. They'd just warp out letting the 'Suspect' get full room aggro and come back in their PvP fit ship to 'Game On' with whatever is left of the 'Suspect'.
Won't be getting much Faction / Deadspace loot but hey, even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.

Hi I am Brochan McLeod.. i am a carebear !
Even so, my life is far from sad though you may think otherwise.
I thouroughly enjoy beeing a Miner, a Scientist, an Explorer, a Missionrunner and a Producer of many things.
But most of all.. i am proud to be the one that gives you Pirates and Gankers a reason for excisting.
I want to thank you for the great tips you provide, giving me insight in the world of the ones i 'fear'.
And to conclude in the true spirit of Carebear-ism... may we ALL live long and prosper! Even the nicest person's patience -á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á has a limit..... |

I didn't post any lies. Wish I could say the same about this over-sensationalized thread topic with all it's intentionally misleading replies.
However I did forget to add this, due to Soundwave & Co and their 'War On Gun Mining', loot drops in most missions have been nerfed all the way back to the age of Castor.
Basically only 1/5th of the wrecks will contain loot which makes it very easy for the "Carebear" mission runner to destroy the wrecks holding loot, pretty much making the wanna be 'Pirate' run around trying to go 'Suspect' which in turn gives more time for NPC EWAR to switch targets.
Also I would like to add that after going through all the trouble to probe down a mission running Battleship and hopefully by-passing the obstacles I mentioned earlier, the wanna be 'Pirate' player should also scan the mission running ship fit to see if it is indeed worth the time to bait.
Granted the tactics described in this thread were quite viable in the past but with the introduction of Mobile Depots, Advanced AI tactics and nerfed loot drops, wanna be Pirate players are gonna be hard pressed to do what's described in the Blog, let along collect Faction / Deadspace modules as rewards. Hell, doing Exploration will net a lot more Faction / Deadspace modules than what's being promised here.
But hey, as I said earlier even a blind squirrel get's lucky and finds a nut every once in a while.

the webbing ones are the only ones you need to worry about and standard bear practise is to shoot them first. as for wrecks, MTU

you realise this isnt just about the drops right, you can offer a ransom once you have them in hull, you can also just do it for the learning experience or even the sheer joy of it

I haven't tried this stuff myself, but I'm pretty sure loot isn't the end goal here. More like a bonus prize at the end.

Although it's very profitable it's not really about the isk, I'm rich as fck, but the idea of being an actual pirate. I'll offer a ransom that's reasonable for both parties, if they're not interested I'll scoop their loot and add it to the loot pile. Last time I actually sold something from that pile was about 2 years ago. I sometimes look at the pile with glee; a sea of CN, pith and gist stuff sprinkled with the odd terrible officer mods (mostly dumb **** like RCU). I'm a hoarder of fancy stuff, tears, joyful memories and hate mail. The isk is just a bonus.
