I hope you don't mind frequent updates to EVE Probe, because we've got another update here:
http://files.eveprobe.ccpgames.com/eveprobe-0.83.4416.0.msi
Release Notes: - Added a new scene, testing a new build effect (work in progress) - Removed unused binaries, resulting in a smaller installer
Known issue: - Doesn't start up on Windows XP.

Nice when is the auto update feature going to show up. Well, we do check if a new version is available - that will have to do for now.

I do understand you need it to integrate the screensaver, but i am primarily interested to help you guys testing the engine. Archive takes 5s to extract and run. I don't want to go through a wizzard every time you guys release a new build. Thats why i would prefer an archive as alternative download. You can run msiexec to install from the command line, using the /q option to do it silently.
msiexec /q /I eveprobe-0.83.4416.0.msi
That should get you what you want.

Challus Mercer wrote:Nice work, you fixed that annoying frame stuttering! Btw the new building effect looks awesome. For what purposes will it be used?
It will be the new building effect when your Anchor a structure in space, it's still work in progress and we don't have a set release date yet but we hope to get in for a future release. :)

Harkin Issier wrote:Howdy! I posted this to a thread about Phoebe changes on SiSi without realizing this came from EVE Probe. Hopefully I'm in the right spot to give my feedback on the construction animation. So I saw a post on Reddit today covering the new POS onlining animations. The effect looks nice, but I don't think it makes sense at the moment. As was brought up in the comments, why are we hauling around giant POS items when it's all digistructed out of magical space lasers?
Hi Harkin Issier,
Thanks for the feedback, you'll be happy to know that there is a 'egg' model at the center if the effect, it just cant be seen in the EVE Probe implementation but will be clear to see when we implement the effect into the client.
This effect is not going to be POS Control tower specific but rather for any V3'd deployable structure that needs to be anchored, that is at least our current thinking. We have a while to go before we can commit this to a release but we wanted to share what we had and get some performance metrics back on the current version. :)

I know the team have been investigating this recently, I'm sure they will have a fix or news soon on the matter. :)

Try running DirectXRedist.exe from the installation folder, normally C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE Probe\bin
It should be run automatically if needed but I'm wondering that's not happening for some reason. We've heard reports of this failing on 8.1 machines, but of course it works fine on machines in house that have 8.1 so we haven't been able to pin it down.

Does EVE Probe have to be installed on the same drive as your EVE installation? I have my Tranquility install on my C:\ drive and EVE Probe and my Sisi install on D:\.
DirectXRedist.exe doesn't work either.
Edit: Reinstalled on C:\, still doesn't work. OK, thanks for trying this out. We'll continue to investigate.

Edit: Reinstalled on C:\, still doesn't work. I've put up a new build to fix an error on startup - I'm curious to know if it fixes your issue. Try running again - it should prompt you to get the latest version.
