How many times have you been looking for an item, found it on the market but carrying a premium price tag, and paid over the odds for it? I know I have and I'd be very surprised if there were many people who hadn't, even just once, done so.
Now, this isn't a great problem for the health of the market, the items are worth what people will pay, we can always go somewhere else. But what if you are in nul sec and it is your corp who are selling the item, but you know fine well that if the guy who builds that item knew you were desperate for it he would have sold it to you at almost production cost.. he's your corp mate after all and you provided the boosts that allowed him to mine the ores.
So, how about a system of discount options which could be set by the seller? The idea would be to give the seller some additional boxes in the advanced selling options that he can choose to edit or not. These would be to offer discounts on the open market sell price based on the following standings: Corp Alliance Faction Friends (determined by personal standings against players\corps or alliances)
The default value would be 0 for each, however the seller has the option to sell to each group if he is in a player corp. NPC corp members have the 1st 3 options fixed at 0%. Entering a percentage value in the box will show the sale offer price to each group. Once happy with his reductions, he hits sell.
When a player looks in the market window, any market deals which will be applicable to the sale could be highlighted with either an icon or displayed in a different colour - maybe blue to keep in with the "blue" standings?
This idea could be further enhanced by adding more options to make sales to your enemies (WT's, Reds, Criminal standings, etc) carry an additional market premium.
Just a thought, but it could make the whole market far more dynamic and interesting for sellers and buyers alike.

It would effectively end market PVP in nullsec, which some would love and some would hate. This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine. |

It would change it, wouldn't end it though, there will always be people who will still want to charge as much as they possibly can regardless of standings, and there will still be those who will pay it. The market PVP would come at both ends of the scale... how much can I get away with over charging and how much can I shave off for corp mates and allies to remain profitable? You would only ever see what offers were available to you, so to win the business you would still need to be competitive with your fellow corp\alliance mates - war on 2 fronts in the market.

You would quickly find corp leaders and alliance leaders requiring that sellers set a bare-minimum price for corp/alliance members, possibly even a price that loses them money, saying "it's for the corp/alliance, and if you won't do it then get out".
Meanwhile, market PvP is about competition against other sellers. How do you compete with prices you can't actually see? The only way is to sell literally at cost and make no profit.
No, OP. If the industrialists of null have a mind to sell items at a discount to their comrades, there are contracts to be made and I do believe you can set them to be visible only to your corporation/alliance.

Maybe I missed something, but if something is up for sale in the Market, how do you know who's selling it before you buy it? If five peeps are selling something for .01 ISK of each other, which one is your guy?

The one that is highlighted in blue text.... You won't see WHO is selling it, just that it is being offered to you at a lower price than his advertised market price due to standings... kind of like a player driven loyalty card scheme or discounts for showing a military id that lots of places irl give. |
