I was looking at a screenshot of a blogger's UI setup and noticed he had his inventory pinned and open. It struck me as a good idea so I can see my ammunition supplies and also I like to be able to see at a glance what I just salvaged from wrecks etc. So I opened up my inventory out in space, resized it to my liking and pinned it where I wanted it. Except every time I dock it goes away and when I undock I have to reopen it. The pin option does not seem to work. Am I doing it wrong? How do I get it to stay open regardless of docking/undocking like all my other pins do? "I thought I had a great idea today, but it never really took off. In fact, it didn't even get on the runway. I guess you could say it exploded in the hangar." |

You are not doing it wrong - the function is broken. There is no consistency, even between characters on the same account.
I have three characters on one account. On two them my inventory window stays open when docking/undocking but on the other I have to open it manually each time.
[Edit] It seems to change with each update. After the next one all three characters will behave the same, then following the one after that there will be one character out of step again. |

The little button to the left of the sheild/armor/hull status worked for me! It's staying pinned regardless of dock/undock. Thanks! :) "I thought I had a great idea today, but it never really took off. In fact, it didn't even get on the runway. I guess you could say it exploded in the hangar." |

I've been having this issue from time to time, but it never really bugged me enough, since just opening it and repinning it seems to serve my purpose until the next time it breaks. Now that I know its not supposed to be so fickle, it'll probably bother me more. |

My main gripe with the inventory system is that if I open the Item Hangar in a station, then undock, then dock again, the UI will helpfully open the active ship's cargo hold. This is also inconsistent. Sometimes it will stay open as the Item Hangar, until I do anything involving inventory, at which point it reverts to being the active ship's cargo hold.

What this means is that now all different types of Inventory windows will have a unique state and retain that state independently from each other. This also applies to the states of all tabs within the Inventory window itself, such as the filter tab, index tree and content view modes. Item hangar and ship hangar will persist the way you left them when you undock from a station. This will apply to all stations globally.
Corporate hangars will persist the way you leave them per office. This means that if you use one office to manage a huge collection of blueprints, and set it up in a certain way, that setup will persist in that station only, and not in other offices where you keep things that don't need the same setup. Since your active ship stays with you between sessions (docking and undocking) it will stay open until you decide to close it. |

Yep, that's how it works on two of my three currently active characters but, as explained above, not on the third. |
