I already sometimes have a hard time rotating around to find some dark enough space to see what is happening on my UI.
Brighter nebula will just make it worse.
Hard to see if modules are activated or not, over heat status, overview, etc.... if the background is to bright. |

A nebula gamma slider would be great. |

Making them brighter makes a lot of previously hidden details apparent, which is nice, but this also comes with the downside of exposing some of their flaws. A resolution upgrade is desired. It would be nice if this is planned for the HD texture pack... assuming that's something that will ever be done.
It's definitely too bright in some systems, but I find this to be the case mainly in systems where the sun's intensity combines with the brightness of the nebulae. Gêâ |

This could be a problem. I have to run everything on low, or my game freezes/slows down unacceptably. This may make things worse. If there was a way to control how bright they are seeming to you, that'd be nice. Fide et honore.

THIS!! And large bright dust clouds are still bad!!
Pretty sad when you are forced to fight by turning your camera away and fight with your back towards the enemy.. |

Yes, I suppose optional content would be a problem if your system could not run it. In recognizing this, it is a wonder as to why one would attempt to bother with said optional content in the first place.

So is it the background nebulae themselves which will be brighter, or the light reflected off the ship? i.e. I recall the devs mentioning they wanted the light from nebula hitting the ship to show more of the colour on the hull. This was to happen towards the end of the V3 process, which is where the game is pretty much at. Clarification on this would be good! X |

I think that there is a point coming when the effects and clouds and all this must be put on sliders, on/off, etc...
So many people aren't going to upgrade to the newest GPU (or can't due to being on a Lappy - even a gaming one) that many of these MMOs have failed to understand that unless they give out GPUs and systems, people aren't going to be able to play them... while it may be the driving force for the college or HS basement bound to spend all there funds on there rig --- most people have more important priorites in this world-economic cake-fart... pardon the term, but it was recently used by an economist I enjoy, and the term is accurate... here is to Max Keiser!
Anyway, clouds are bad in any mission, incursion, or what not... and basically they violate the rule of everything having a point... they aren't cover or anything game wise, they are simply render items for the sake of rendering... and they use resources... as do many things in the game that well, we all turn off or down... the newest may be blinding (and I have to agree with the latest SISI fly around)... they are a bit much.
I +100 CCP for making the game work better, and improvements are awesome.
I -1 for CCP not optimizing as much as they should with things like this - I have twice changes out Laptops since I started EVE, but not going to be doing that again... and when I started I had all on high and so on... lately my FPS has suffered and I have had to start to selectively cut here and there, and really cut off effects completely in fleet situations...
A war on lag, may well be to reduce the amount of these items to something that can be toned down to a dull-roar on the GPU.
As such it would be nice if we could iconize many of the effects, and not have them be on... the same with particles, as much as they are laued by some, just as many feel they are in the way... of smooth play.
Anyway, EVE always, but how about some optimzation on things to keep it within the realm of the older gamers. Imperial Academy [IAC] Member for 5 years, 2 months, 29 days as of 10.09.2014.
