Local in 0.0 should be left as is - there is absolutely no reason why anyone should be able to go through a system full of people unnoticed. |

People who want local removed without being replaced by a new equivalent mechanic are fools. imagine doing a 20j roam in null. think how long it takes in a BC gang (not so long I know, but not exactly quick.) now imagine that every single jump is going to have an extra couple of minutes per system spent with the FC poping open the system map and saying "blahblah warp to blah, blahblah2 warp to blah2" etc. factor in warp times, gate scouting, jump scouting, systems with belts around the outer planets, unknown and probably non-existent camps at every gate that's beyond Dscan range but has to be checked anyway....
It wouldn't make pvp better. it would kill null roaming ganks completely.
you might as well force hostile gangs to pop beacons that show up in system and star map, cos thats the only way you'd actually find a fight with the removal of local, the so called pvpers that want local removed are either clueless or thinking in W-space terms, it doesn't work in the wider more desolate expanses of null.
Local should change, it is far too informative and instant as it is, but untill someone suggests something that has the same basic functionality with but with far more *even* tactical opportunity (with a possible bias towards sov holders) that also includes real-world player skill, then the argument doesn't hold water. you are trying to destroy and make far more difficult the one thing that you think is making you crave this change. |

Disagree with the first part, agree with the second. Null should have lazy local, like in WH space. But no one should go unnoticed, holders just have to actually patrol their space for that to happen. |

CCP (when they were talking about local) said it wouldn't be taken out, just changed from the instant intel it gives now. |

Because people who dont live in null sec thinks so.
Same as lvl IVs should be moved to low sec.
why?
Because people who dont do them, think so.
Same as ABC removed from low class wormholes ?
Why ? Because people who dont know anything about wormholes think so. |

Wouldn't it be cool if local were removed AND we could hyperwarp anywhere?
They would have to introduce something like probes to the game - probes that can scan down ships - maybe even a probe that can cover a whole system and tell you whats in it.
I wonder what such probes would be called, and how they would be used?

just have a covops scout ahead (sth many roams do anyways) and do a quick check with combat probes before calling in your fleet.
if you spend a "couple of minutes" hitting dscan near various celestials you're doing it wrong.
Since the introduction of Alt+Drag, Shift+Drag and additional probes giving bonuses scanning a system has become a matter of seconds (and you don't need 100% hits to get an idea of what's going on). |

At no point did CCP promise a change to local, therefore you have a mental illness. Book an appointment with a doctor, because you need some strong medication to prevent your brain from making up lies and deciding you heard the lies from a credible source. |

No he's not exaggerating that much, and you're over simplifying the process of launching probes, scanning and then recovering them in every sytem you enter.
Launching your scan probes gives the in-system bot or ratting carrier an advantage cos he has his probes out already and he's scanning them constantly. What possible reason is there to add extra button presses to get the same information you currently get without pressing a button ?
