Seems like mercoxit is worth less than Veldspar at current morphite prices (in terms of mining ISK/hr)

You get less m3 per hour tho. You're both citing different metrics.

ISK/m3 is not a comparable metric for morphite since your yield is not the same. |

Disclosure: i'm gonna be long on it at least till it hits 4500 bid, mostly because i think it makes zero sense for the rarest mineral to be the cheapest in ISK/hr mining. |

My theory is that when everyone stops mining it because veldspar is better the supply will get cut off abruptly. |

This is of course assuming that people mine to maximize their ISK/hr which might be wrong, many people apparently look at isk/m3. |

Many people like me look at neither..
I mine because I enjoy it, I mine to get minerals for my production. I don't treat it as a job.
I just sell any excess above what I need. Sometimes that might be after a couple of days, sometimes once a week.
Oh and don't get all trembly thinking about mining Veld..I have had some Compressed Dense Veld in a hub for sale for the last 12 days. So much for a shortage in null eh?
(and yes I keep dropping it to the cheapest on sale...any further and it'll be the same price as normal Veld)

They also mine it to get it out of the way so the next anomaly will spawn. Remember that in null sec, in a system with upgrades, the supply is not related to what is most profitable to mine, but the ore makeup of the anomalies.

This is why null ore anoms need to be rebalanced. There is a huge surplus of high end minerals (including morphite) that significantly outweighs the demand. That, combined with relatively cheap shipping cost per unit, means that the majority of high end minerals that are mined are able to be shipped to Jita.
CCP needs to remove a lot of the m3 of arkonor/bistot from null anoms and change that m3 to kernite/veld/etc. |

If you took a fully T2 fitted Battle cruiser and did a mineral breakdown of the entire set, Morphite is an extremely small amount in percentage.
Even to take a T2 Cruiser and T2 fit it, maximum morphite contribution, as a manufacturere you will spend most of your time looking for other parts. 4 million Morphite is over a thousand Jump freighters, assuming you have all the other stuff to go with it.
The days of rare are pretty much gone. Nothing in EVE is rare. We occupy the entire map of New Eden now. It's a logistics game of getting it all in the same place.

Regardless of build requirements, why would i want to mine mercoxit if it's cheaper than all other roids?
I'm not sure i buy the argument that you mine out just to kill the anom, when you can go mine the belts instead and the anom will disappear in 24 hrs i believe.
Plus the 2 comments from goons make me suspicious that it's a goon price fixing conspiracy :) |

Most morphite likely goes towards T2 ammo production, not ship production. The Jita market seems to have stabilized again after a steep dive over the weekend. I was happily able to take advantage of that and am betting long on it as well.
You're young, you'll adjust.
I'm old, I'll get used to it.

... you are investing in morphite with this bad an understanding of nullsec mining?
jesus, too bad there's no way for me to sell you options or leverage or something that would let me take all your isk quickly with your bad investment dicisions |

Just from looking at the price of morphite right now, clearly my investment "dicisions" were bad.. Yes do sell me "options or leverage or something".
I'm sure since you are so generous you could also allocate some time and explain the Black-Scholes equation to me in detail. |

That chart is for isk/m3 not isk/hr. Don't use it for mercoxit to optmize your hourly profit when mining. As someone else pointed out you need to use a reduced yield multiplier for mercoxit. Because your yield is lower. |

Tau Cabalander wrote:To normalize the price of Mercoxit vs other ores, multiply by 0.454 Modulated Deep Core Strip Miner II vs. Modulated Strip Miner II:
Mercoxit: 250 m3 * (1 + 37.5% Mercoxit II crystal) = 343.75 Other: 360 m3 * (1 + 75% crystal II) = 630
Mercoxit vs. Other = (630 - 343.75) / 630 = 45.4% less ore
Feel free to correct my math if I did something wrong.
EDIT: Hmm... looks wrong, should be multiply by 1 - 45.4% = 0.546 to normalize. |
