Going out on a limb here but bear with me...
Look, the changes over the past few months/years are what they are. The sky didn't actually fall, but they certainly didn't make our lives any easier. CCP did us no favors either in the changes they made, or responding to the feedback our community provided. Kudos to all those folks that have stuck it out, are still in w-space, but maybe at a bit of a loss as to what to do now. Let me suggest that each and every CEO/Director/FC make a concerted effort to promote activity. Make scanning a priority, take fights and make new frenemies, do STUFF, whatever that means for you and your folks. The leadership of every w-space corp needs to step up and make these things happen, rather than sit back and go back and forth as to how we got here on the never-ending forum threads. For me, w-space is all I have in Eve, I could never go back to HS or stomach the Null grind. Lowsec, meh, just not interested. So it is w-space or nothing.
And certainly not every corp/alliance is in dire straits. But, in the grand scheme of w-space, as the smaller corps suffer, the larger ones will eventually follow. Simple math and much like any other food chain. So be proactive, and make activity a priority. I know in the past, we would split up larger fleets into scanning groups in an effort to increase the odds of finding PVP. If a group got in over their head, other groups would consolidate into a larger force as-needed. This tactic maximized systems covered and reduced the "blob" factor, allowing smaller entities to take the fights offered.
So yeah, I get it, promoting activity is hard, and requires organization, and effort. But I see absolutely no signs that things will fix themselves. There is no grand w-space content coming anytime soon, no POS revamp, no Corp/Alliance management changes in the near-term. So having said that, let's get out there and scan, plex, fight, gank, mine, gas harvest, whatever it is you do. But get out and do something.
Activity creates more activity. Most of us have seen this on a smaller scale, perhaps corp or alliance wide, but this affects us all. And quite frankly it is time the community stopped wallowing and feeling sorry for ourselves, and instead made the best of a bad situation. Telling people they are bad at w-space is not constructive, nor helpful for anyone. For instance, if someone thinks the mass-spawn changes killed quick rolling, help them understand how to minimize the effect. If they say they can't afford to do "x", suggest ways they can. I know Eve is a bunch of bitter a-holes but sometimes the best tactic is actually helping each other out. Help the new folks along because by doing so we create the competent opponents of tomorrow.
I realize I don't agree with a lot of what is said on these forums, probably no different than anyone else here, and some folks just need a good pimp-hand IMHO . But as a community, large and small groups alike, we need to do something to combat these recent trends and relying on CCP or Corbexx (who I think is doing and will continue to do a fine job) to "fix" w-space is a recipe for disaster.
This is just my 2 cents as a long-standing w-space resident and CEO. I am not looking to argue, debate, or anything of the sort. Just passing along some observations, and suggestions on how we can start to fix these issues ourselves because no significant help is coming anytime soon.. Hmmm Not at all sure where you get that from. Far too many people here saying things are terribly broken, can't be fixed, no point, blah blah blah. While saying all that may make folks feel better, it just isn't true. People may have to change and adjust tactics, but the content is what you make of it, always has been, and the ISK to sustain operations is as well. Agree wholeheartedly. It's difficult however (without wanting to be wholly negative) as things are a lil more complicated than that.
Several groups who've lost their main content creators have come to us recently looking to join our alliance. Most we have refused as we like being small. Another group did the same again recently and we're conflicted - surely for the health of WH space they should be asked to go it alone, tell them we are happy with our size and encourage them to stick it out.
In reality what we've seen before is that they'll either just disappear completely or join HK/Disavowed etc.
Our guys 'just getting out there' is only part of the solution. |

Perhaps do what we have done, open up communication channels. Encourage that folks stay solo, but share an intel channel and if things escalate, or if anyone finds some some good action, they can open it up to whoever is around. This helps preserve their identities while keeping the number of mega-alliances low. Plus, it is a great way to catch up with old friends and make new ones without having all of w-space blue.
Yeah, I know my view is simplistic, but instead of bickering about what the single right way to fix things is, we need to start somewhere. Yes, if you have to ask yourself the question, just assume we are watching you... |

The people that "stuck it out" are active in wspace already so thats a really poor place to start as that never really stopped. The issue is this constant regurgitating misconception that hyperion somehow broke wspace. We (ISO5) are at the point where we can finally gank cap esc fleets without outside help so we are moving away from the really small corp but we are very far from the larger entities. And we have not felt like any of the hyperion changes ruined wspace for us, it made somethings more annoying, but not hard. (Even before we got to our size which is recent. Those who are afraid will use hyperion as their ace excuse why they arent succeeding but the reality is that most of them are lazy and dont put in the woek. Because wspace requires A LOT of work and some of us like that. So the solution isnt for people to do things its for people to not be afraid to do things. Let's go one step further, I am tired of people saying wspace is broken at all. Wspace is a very unique niche in Eve, one that I intend to ride into the dirt. Lol. Bronya, you said one of my main points in a far more direct way: stop making excuses and go do stuff. Wspace is what you make of it. I do, though; and I have seen more large roams, and what looked like a couple low-class evictions in progress, in the past few weeks; and really few small roams. That sucks for me since I am not in a large group.
I know I'm not offering anything but anecdotal bullshit, but it would be nice to see more of those 1 or 2 or 6 man gangs and less of the way bigger ones. When I first came to W-space I would be pissed if I tried to fight 1 guy and 5 more jumped in to ***** on my lossmail. Now that would be a refreshing change. :/ |

Would be sweet if, in case you tackle someone's ship of roughly equal size (let's say you engage a HIC and 2 tengus in a Sleipnir), they would pile on to you with more Tengus and other dps ships, instead of dropping you with 3 basis, a falcon, a rapier and an arazu in addition to HIC and 2 tengus.
They'd still have good odds to win, but atleast you don't go down with 6 different EWAR/tackle icons while you tank them through polarization timers. Everyone wants to win, but I fail to understand how doing it so cowardly and incompetent can lead to a feeling of accomplishment.

The Rules: 5. Trolling is prohibited.
Trolling is a defined as a post that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting other players in an attempt to incite retaliation or an emotional response. Posts of this nature are disruptive, often abusive and do not contribute to the sense of community that CCP promote. You know, I hear ya. But what are the options? Our CSM reps are pushing for our interests, CCP has the info and feedback, the ball is entirely in their court. If the choices are:
1) Move to NS/LS/HS 2) Stop playing Eve 3) Make the best of what we have because it is still a great game and we live in the "best" space
Well, choice "3" is the clear winner IMHO. I don't play for ISK efficiency, and I like chess (wspace) rather than checkers (NS/LS/HS). We all start in HS, I lasted about 7 months before the switch to wspace. I never looked back, and both corps I have been in and eventually led were essentially 100% wspace entities. I don't think there is anything wrong with getting ones kills in NS or LS, but as for vested interests, we are 100% all-in regarding wspace and where it is headed. Others here are as well, but yes, I do take some of the posts with a grain of salt, realizing they do not live in wspace, nor do they even have recent experience.
I truly hope whatever CCP does to rebalance Null throws the game into enough of a turmoil that people re-evaluate where they want to play/live. I just hope they don't end up driving huge numbers out of the game, and I honestly take no satisfaction in the Null tears although some posts/threads are amusing in that regard. In the end, whenever and however that comes, I will likely be one of the last ships flying on TQ, in wspace, looking for people to shoot.
If any of you folks have legitimate ideas on "fun" stuff to try, or simply ideas to discuss, feel free to convo me in-game and we can chat. I don't care if you represent hundreds of people, or run solo, both and everything in-between has merit and we are about having fun and enjoying Eve. My door is open to provide information, joint ops, whatever you want, to make wspace more enjoyable. We have helped a lot of newer groups over the years and that is a particularly satisfying part of Eve for us as a group. Just give us a shout... I don't feel any change from Hyperion except that the space is even more empty because people are pussies and just left without even trying to adapt.
And that I have a C4 with two statics now which is great. After the first scanning frenzy, where probably everyone was scanning like mad to evacuate and rescue their stuff from the evil Fozzie, wormhole spawning has now also settled down to a level where many days I have just my statics. Totally possible to do pve, though of course it has now some risk attached to it whereas before there was exactly zero risk.
...but the new risk is probably mostly just perceived and no real risk, because most new holes that open either have nobody behind them (scanned but not used holes that randomly open later without player action) or just the usual lone scanner uninterested in or uncapable of proper combat tackle. Haven't seen a hole-rolling ganking squad yet. I wonder if those who used to do that frequently are still doing it? Especially those with non-capital statics? . |
