whats CCP policy, and why all the hating on this? It is obviously a design feature of that game, probably intended for disconnects.. (as they seem to be fairly frequent, probably around once every 1-2 hours for me)
imo, obvious use of game mechanics, if ccp wanted to prevent people escaping death and destruction they would have a logout countdown like other mmo's.

there's a big difference between being warped away out of danger because your connection just dropped or the servers rebooted and just hitting CTRL Q to rob someone else of a victory.
have you ever played an RTS against someone and after an hour or more of play, just as it seems like you're getting the advantage, they decide they're not interested in playing and just log? it's very frustrating, and it's very, very weak.
you (and others) can say "well, CCP put the 'safety-warp' feature in the game so therefore they MUST have intended people to do it", but that's not the case which is why they introduced the aggression timers - one of those prevents you from just dropping your connection in combat PRECISELY to avoid this kind of LAME TACTIC
i don't mean any of this as an attack on you, but if someone's not prepared to lose a fight and will use what basically lies somewhere between an exploit and an extremely weak choice in order to NOT lose a fight, then they need to grow up a little.

If youŠve been npcing prior to logging you stay visible for a certain period of time.
If youŠve been pvping prior to logging you are visible for 15 minutes.
If youŠve done neither you are still visible but with the emergency warp off itŠs quite difficult to track you down in the 30 seconds or so youŠre still on the scanner.
If at any time during the above limits someone finds you and fires upon you, the time limits are reset.

And there's one more thing - if the ship is being warp scrambled, it won't warp off if the pilot logged off. Dunno about the warp scramble probes - one ppl say they stop, other say they don't, the mobile warp disruptors will not allow ship to warp off from within them, but eventuoally ship will leave the perimeter and warp away unless stopped by webbing or something :)
The truth is out there...

I know friends who crashed in missions while they were about to lose their ship due to warp scramble motives and when they loged back they were allright no ship lost no nothing :) , i also have friends who lost their ships due to not being warps scrabled but the ship had full warp meter and wouldnt leave the scene and / or they were in warp and they still received damage untill their ship was blown ... and yes they were in the warp tunnel ... so the ratting/mission getaways are realative ... depends on the connection you have with the server, or there is a server count for every cheat escape another player gets to lose his/hers ship in a mission :) <joking> :)

It's whatever time is left on the Aggression Timer, which is in the top-left corner of the screen.
The timer only displays one countdown; mousing over the timer will show a list of all timers in effect, if you have multiple aggressions.

I was always under the impression that your pod simply disappeared when you logged. So it actually warps off first like ships do? ----------------------------------------------- "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings" - Optimus Prime |

There are no aggression timers in 0.0 space.
As to what the npc timer is IŠd try in the help channel, all I know is itŠs less than the pvp timer.
