How profitable would it be to buy T1 BPOs and then research them to10 ME/20 TE or close to it and sell them on contracts? Also how fast do they generally sell? Also for what kind of blueprints should I go looking for to do this? Ships? Ammo? Modules?
Mostly wondering how viable this would be to do. |

It depends on the BPO, you'd have to do your research and check contracts.

As Elizabeth says, you just need time and patience. Go through contracts in Jita, look at the contract history of the people and corporations selling BPOs, search contracts and do the same.
Use the chat channels ingame that blueprint sellers hang around in, there is a channel under the Trade tab in the chat channel listing called Blueprints, do the same exercise there. There are also a few trade channels.
Look at what is selling from the completed contracts of all these people - just because something is up on contract in Jita atm doesn't mean it will sell at that price, so use history of completed contracts.
The more time and effort you put in, the more you get out. |

Also bear in mind that researching blueprints used to be a lot more difficult because of limited ME & PE slots. Now there are unlimited slots making it easy for people to research their own blueprints. Once the new rules are reflected in the market, I doubt people will pay a high premium for researched prints. |

I wouldn't worry about that. While capped module, T1 Frigate and cruiser BPO's will be common, higher end BPO's that aren't capped now, never will be. If you have a 10/ 20 BPO you won Industry
To put that in to perspective, if you were a shiny new player, starting out in EVE today with the idea in your head you wanted a 10/20 Large Control Tower BPO you are looking at around 2 billion ISK and 4 years of research.

Something to keep in mind is that all 10/10 BPOs were converted to perfect when the patch hit, and some 5/10 or 10/5 ones were too. Also BPOs now costs a lot of ISK in addition to time in order to make perfect.

as far as making money out of researching, there's money on component BPOs. but researching them requires a few lvl Vs, like metallurgy and such. they sell relatively fast, specially choke components, like some weapon parts. (superconductor rails and the like)
the reason is simple, a single manufacturer working for even a small lowsec FW alliance like me, needs a TON of parallel jobs just to keep the T2 production running. the choke point used to be invention, now days its on Components (they take too long to manufacture)
regular T1 stuff like weapons and anything that has strong T2 variants is pretty much useless. simply because to invent you get the same result with a 0/0 copy or a 10/20 one. some T2 mods need the base t1 material to get made, but in those cases the manufacturer already has one good cheap 10/18 bpo they keep 24/7 making copies and then burst produces a bunch of t1 modules one day of the week before cooking the T2. so don't even bother.
ships take longer, specially cruisers. scythes, exeqs, vexors, always sell. and the first two are the cheapest cruiser BPOs on NPC sell orders. anything smaller wont sell, really. only exception are dessie sets. but when you add up the time cost of making a full set, you are better off working on exeqs and scythes. new industrialists getting into T2 production usually make the mistake of starting with cheap cruisers like oneiros/scimis, so you should profit from their impatience. (ospreys and augs also sell, but the t2 variants don't get killed/manufactured as often)
when it comes to ammo, forget it. but, cap boosters are a different story. both industrialist and regular players will buy those BPO sets, everyone needs to have at least one set. :D
if you don't have the SP and time to train all the lvlVs needed for component research, then stick to Cap boosters and eventually upgrade to logis. anything bigger is a gamble. |
