***I do not condone criminal activities discussed in the many below and only subscribe to the use of this tactic when attempting to return wreck items to their owners after a CODE. gank***
The Micro Jump Drive is a great tool for many uses. Now it can be used to swiftly scoop the loot from a wreck or a can. Because normal looting of a can requires your ship to be aligned to a dockable object, who doesn't dock right after a loot? I mean not docking is like, yeah then there is the cloak, but anyway. Because you have to be fast when looting especially when there are 50 other ships waiting to loot the CODE. ganked freighter full of billions of ISK the following MJD tactic will ensure that you are able to retrieve the ganked loot and return it to the owner.
1. Use a ship that is able to have the MJD fit to it. 2. Fit T2 Cargo Expanders in the low slots. 3. Fit T1 or T2 Cargo Expanders in the rig slots. 4. Fit a T1 Cloak. 5. Fit a T1 or T2 MWD
MJD Tactic #1 Static Can Loot - Approach the wreck and open it up. As soon as the contents are seen start the MJD timer. When the timer is almost complete loot and warp away. If you time your loot and MJD timer correctly you will get the loot, become a suspect and jump away before anyone knows what has happened. Once your MJD has dropped you back to normal space cloak up assess what is going on around you and then warp to a station.
MJD Tactic #2 Static Can Loot While Using MWD - This tactic will take some training to become talented at and is useful when trying to loot cans of ganked freighters. Timing is everything and the most important factor for this tactic to work. When the to be ganked target has been firmly established lock it up and keep it as the only target on your HUD. Orbit the target at around 15km that way CODE. wont target you right away. Once the shooting has begun begin to burn towards the target using Approach. Using Approach will keep you on the same alignment with wreck once the ship has been destroyed. Slowly increase your velocity so that you arrive at the edge of the CODE gank sphere just as CODE is taking the target into structure. At this point they wont be able to divert any Catalysts away from the gank to your MJD Looter. As the target is half way into structure your MJD Looter should be well inside of the CODE. Sphere. Once the freighter is destroyed open the wreck and start the MJD timer. You will probably have to use the Overview to select the wreck because of the intense explosion that might blind your visual for a few seconds. Since there will be allot of m/3 cargo you might be informed about your cargo hold not being able to hold all of the items if you do a Loot All function. In this case you will want to loot the wreck when the MJD is at about 90% that way you can run some time off of the timer and then loot before the MJD timer runs out to avoid creating a buffer zone for a fast locking ship to lock you down with a scrambler or disruptor. Or you can open your Cargo Hold first then after the target explodes activate the MJD, select an amount of cargo close to your ships cargo volume and drag it to your cargo hold. Wait until the MJD timer is nearly complete, drop the cargo in your hold and the MJD away cloak up and contact the property owner.
Once you get the art of MJD Looting down to a science you will be able to burn towards the target turn the MJD on and right after the target explodes loot the wreck and be gone before CODE. knows what hit them.
MJD Looting is only effective at level 4 and 5 of Micro Jump Drive Operation. MJD Op 4 - 9.6 second timer, MJD Op 5 - 9 second timer. |

Because when you are aligned to a station a smart and observant anti-ganker will be watching how you align your ship in comparison to your direction of travel that can easily be determined as getting ready to flip the can.
Using the MJD means that you can approach the can, loot and warp off in the direction that you are traveling in thus disguising your intents.
Taking the time to place bookmarks is tedious as well and any anti-ganker watching a gate will also be watching your placement of book marks if you plan on jumping close to the gate, or belt.
Besides who wants to take all day long to make book marks, that clog up the system when you can simply flip the loot can and activate the MJD.
Make certain to return the stolen property as well.
No I have not tried this in the Wilde where it would probably work much better seeing as how wrecks are left behind allot of the times.
In High Sector its really fun because you can sit on a can turn the MJD on and loot right as you jump to spoil the day of the anti-ganker.
I'm not saying that I loot on a daily basis but I do occasionally loot CODE wrecks to try and return their property. |

Nobody will follow you anyway, align, loot, warp, dock station. It's not about hiding after the fact, but getting the loot and escaping in the first place. You need to be faster than the "official" looter, who is waiting >150 km away, aligned to the gate and warping to zero on the wreck the moment the freighter is destroyed.
Edit: Also to be able to reliably escape, you need a lot of stabs. Sometimes you encounter people who will insta-multi-scram-web you the moment you become suspect. ;)

And do what about it exactly? Even if the anti-ganker you mentioned had you locked as you looted the can, they'd have to wait a second for one server tick to pass before they can scram you, and you'd have to still be there two seconds later for the scram to land. That's plenty of time to get into warp if you're already aligned.
Incidentally, it's also plenty of time to scram someone who's MJD is a second away from being activated. Yes, warp scramblers shut down MJDs too.
All this idea does is add an extra step, and more risk, to an already simple procedure.

Dryson, a much simpler, and much safer tactic:
- Have an orca and a freighter sitting on the wreck in the same fleet, with the orca's fleet hangar set to fleet use.
Warp in with a noobship on an alt

The noobship pilot moves as much valuable loot as he can into the Orca. This flags him as suspect, so he'll die almost instantly, but the Orca is safe.

The freighter pilot can then legally take from the Orca's fleet hanger.

Repeat with other noobships until all the loot is gone. You put zero isk at risk. (in theory the gankers are still flagged and won't be able to gank your orca or freighter.)

Ideally have a few empty clone alts or friends ready with noob ships as the freighter will likely have more than can fit in the Orca's fleet hangar in one go so you'll need more than one trip.
This is a much better plan than yours as the only assets at risk are a noob ship and whatever implants are in it's clone if you're slow warping out. (Like, really slow, seriously, it's a pod.)

That's just a brilliant as using a neutral Orca at a hisec POS bash to refit and resupply drones/ammo. Orca is never a valid target, so the WTs can never shoot it.

You are over thinking it OP.
If you really want to annoy High Sec Gankers - why don't you:
1. just make new toons on a spare account slots - train it for a few hours - follow them all day flying catalysts with T1 guns, prop mod and a sebo and pop the wrecks.
Or
2. Wait until they are about to gank. Have eyes on station to tell you when they warp and you can trigger concord early so that by the time they land concord are almost on grid. (This couldl also save many of their 'victims')
Or
3. Do both in case the gank still succeeds. (Best option if you have a few people to help you)
You will get way more lolz and cut off a decent amount of their income.
Get a few friends to do the same thing with you and you could have a lot of fun.

Sitting on the wreck waiting to loot it is fine when the wreck has been there for awhile and the possibility of someone coming through gate as you are looting to then pop your ship makes its necessity in low sector.
But when you are conducting fly by MJD Looting the timing has to be perfect otherwise you could get jammed if someone is keen to what you are doing and locks you up with a Passive Targeting Module. |
