One afk character shouldn't be able to make an entire system's worth of people suffer. Include an inactivity timer to log them out! |

This has been posted a ton of times. But I agree I am dumbfounded that CCP has not acted on this issue. I am tired and done with it. |

I can see how this could be a tricky issue for CCP;
On one hand, booting afk players whether they are in high, low, null, wormhole space, docked up, undocked, whatever, would free up system resources, and potentially help the game run smoother for those who are actually logged in and playing at least semi actively.
On the other hand, the online player count would be a bit lower, so all the Henny Pennys would scream Eve is dying. |

CCP would actually have to be honest for once. |

You could just close out your local channel, pretend you're in w-space, and play the game like us w-space people do. Afk cloakers in null are simply psychological warfare. They get in your head because you are so fixated with your free intel local channel. Lose that crutch. Close your local channel. |

Yeah, absolutely. I realize the sword cuts both ways, but what is fair is fair. |

Noone should be able to play afk. Question is, how many subs would CCP loose if this gets timers? |

How can a person who is not at their keyboard harm you? You are specifically stating that someone who is not there is causing you to not be able to do anything. |

Against.
I often fly in and out of null and my route is heavily camped. I often have to wait 1-2 hours without doing anything until there is a gap to bring in the ships. In the meantime I can only watch video or eat something hoping that the gang is losing patience to search for my ship. |

Perhaps you should only come back to null when you have your big boy pants then.

I dont think that it should be so unreasonable for the Rorqual running links in the pos to activate and deactivate a mid slot module every 15 minutes. If the guy really isnt at the comp, afk boosting for others, yes, he is inactive, boot him. |

Now i've done the whole nullsec thing and i have even been the "eye in the sky" in an op or two but the whole AFK camper thing still confuses me...
If you dock up when a neut enters local and he doesnt leave after you get back from going "guess i'll vacuum or get groceries or whatever" and he isnt gone yet.
Well guess its time to go back to business as usual, either he's AFK in which case well screw him or you need to get some buddies with an instalock something to go ratting with you and then PWNBOAT ALL THE THINGS...
EDIT: I am also fully specced on leadership skills (I KNOW A MAIN WHO HAS FLEET COMMANDER 5 GASP!) and have been the idiot driving the boosting orca/commandship etc on more then one occation, even when i was hanging out on comms and shooting the **** asking me to push buttons during something that bloody boring is bordering on criminal... I want to watch my movie in peace.

Ignoring the argument of whether afkers impact the ability of other players to play the game, it IS a strain on server resources and an artificial playercount. That I think should be enough to deal with it. No, one player is not a big strain, but if 10% of the playerbase is afk, docked up in stations, afk at poses, afk cloaked, thats a very large amount of system resources being used by players who aren`t actually playing. |

na. bad idea.
afking in a system full of people is perfectly fine. Its kinda counter to instant local. If you bother too much about neutrals in your local, you will be eventually locked into station by a single afk in your system. Working well.
Its kind of counter to instant local and functions both ways as intended. You can use it for your perfect safety but neutrals can use it to frighten you to death by a cloaky ibis in system. |

Afk players are simply the psychological warfare part of Eve. There are ways to work around such as keep a standing fleet and help those in trouble.
If one inactive player can keep 60 players hostage, then I think there is something more than one afk player not doing something that is the issue. |
