So, are the new systems going to be used through browsers and phone apps? Because in some ways, that might be nice, but of course it's ridiculous that they would let the IGB go the way of the jukebox, but what can we do?
Yeah, well, it's just like my-áopinion, man.

I really don't get the hate over this.
If we can still map wormholes after it's gone, then whats the problem. adapt to the situation.
(also Macs are bad :P)

You don't seem to understand it will be better to design apps and stuff around APIs and CREST then it will be to design apps around a quickly obsoleting browser.

It's totally better to want to buy 3 more monitors to have 3 browser windows per EVE Client at the same time. |

Can you elaborate on this? Why would you need that?

As long as they give us enough time to adapt our tools to CREST before shutting down the IGB I'm fine with that. Sure, it will be a ton of work for me to rewrite our mapper, but I think it will be worth it. Working around all those little bugs and quirks of the IGB is really annoying and on top of that the IGB API data can't be trusted at all. |

What we can do with CREST is way more powerfull that what we can do with the IGB. I only hope it's performance will be able to keep up with all our mappers and our jumping around. This is still CCP.. |

Sorry, couldn't find your reasonable rebuttal as to why they should focus a lot of development resources into a large security threat that would need constant updates over the sound of your tears. |

I'm still behind CCP's plan to remove the IGB and supply CREST end-points to give the same back-end functionality.
As for losing the ability to avoid the "Alt-Tab" browsing... There are options out there in overlay software (Like Overwolf). Yes Overwolf has some bugs and lack of DX11 support, but we have 1-2 years to help them fix those issues and add Mac support!
Lets stop dwelling on old tech and use the next 1-2 years to shape the biggest up and coming tech! I think we all know CCP tends to go with what they decide and rarely over-turn, I think it's time to move past their choice.
I for one have already been reaching out to CCP FoxFour about preparing for the future and will be working with Overwolf to fix existing issues.

How is this overlay stuff going to work? I'd hate having to use siggy in a separate window. Annoying enough to alt-tab between EVE clients. (I had two monitors but the female that now inhabits my home claimed one of them for herself and there is no place for three monitors.)
Why not just keep it in some locked state? Like block all websites except those that are EVE-related and approved by CCP. Which would be things like siggy, Dotlan etc. That way there is not much of a security threat.

Except the SSO will store the auth token as content inside a cookie in the browser, so how will multiple characters be handled? |

It makes me happy to finaly get rid of that old piece of garbage :)
And I am looking forward to it getting removed from everybody so I don't have to listen to people tell me to use it anymore. |
