I think there should be a mobile ship that has the same features of a pos, able to jump etc it can harvest a new energy source in space to keep its shields active and to power the jump, your ship can jump with the mobile ship if it is close by, i think mobile fleets able to do things on the move should be an option, the new jump fatigue would balance the choice, and those in charge of the fleet / corporation would have to consider carefully where to jump to next, creating all sorts of intrigue. |

uhm. no. This breaks so many things until and unless POS code is fixed, and has a similar number of exploits as a POS.

though it does not do everything you are asking for

Titans and Motherships were supposed to be mobile bases, and then CCP never got the database to stop freaking out about two pilots being in the same ship (they were supposed to allow docking) and so Motherships got repurposed and renamed as Supercarriers and Titans remained huge, cost-ineffective space penises.
At any rate, space is much more civilized and conquered now than it was in those days and so there's a limited use for this sort of thing. It would almost certainly have to be a supercapital which means no wormholes. It could, however, find a role on the other side of those mysterious player-built stargates that will go somewhere new.
Perhaps when that day comes, but not now. |
