I downloaded eve today and when I went to install the pre-installation verifying (which I assume is a checksum or something) went fine, then after installation it's stuck on this screen http://prntscr.com/4zn0qg . I tried deleting and reinstalling.
Anyone know what causes this and/or how to fix it? |

Hmm was able to do a workaround based on what I read in this thread, by running the Launcher directly from inside the app.
Is there a verification file somewhere I can delete to stop it from stalling on clicking the actual app? |

I am having the exact same issue, and have also bypassed the issue by running the launcher directly in the app.
Hopefully this gets addressed, as I've confirmed it to be an issue on both my iMac and my Macbook Pro (both running 10.10). |

Mine is stuck on verifying; any idea what to do or what causes that? Uninstalled and reinstalled a couple times now. |

Found my solution on this page. Only had to do step one and the launcher and game worked just fine after that:
Quote:OS X specific issues The following are a list of specific issues for OS X 10.6 and 10.7 Corrupt installation/patching In the case of a corrupt installation or patch the EVE Launcher sometimes will not start or will fail to start the EVE Client You can work around this in two different ways. 1. Open the Terminal Application or use Finder to work your way to this path: EVE Online.app/Contents/Resources/EVE Online.app/Contents/Resources/transgaming/c_drive/Program Files/CCP/EVE In there delete the "common.ini" file and start the client again. It will start the EVE Launcher and repair the client for you automatically. 2. Uninstall the client, delete the EVE Online Preferences folder for it from /Users/username/Library/Application support/ Then download the latest full version of the client from: http://community.eveonline.com/download/ and install. This is a bit more severe fix for the issue but hopefully will only be needed under severe client corruption circumstances.

for future people who have an issue with this. My fix was in system preferences/ security/general. you need to allow apps downloaded from anywhere. It stated right in there that it was blocking eve from opening yet instead of telling me with a popup to allow or deny it would just "freeze" on verifying. Just ridiculous |

Ok guy's and gal's I might have a work around for you here, now listen (or read) closely.... it will be real informal so keep up if possible.
1. (if installing from a clean install) - do all that dragging stuff we are accustomed to and install if not already installed
2.Open Finder (from the dock or w/e you have it....) and find Eve Online in the "App's" tab or folder...
3.CONTROL+CLICK the icon in "App's" and show package contents....
4.navigate this folder like this...open appdata, EVE Online-2...macosx, then right here you will find the "Old launcher" or the one I'm accustomed to....CONTROL+CLICK on this and select open
I am testing this as i write this and it is working (84.4% validated atm) will submit images to show you how I figured this out....

I'm having 2 problems, and I think they're separate.
First problem It started last Tuesday (Dec 2). I could launch the launcher, enter login & password, but when the character selection screen displayed, it was completely black. I could move the mouse around and see the mouse pointer change. I could click where a character would be and log that character in. All the while the screen was completely black.
I tried launching the Eve Online.app app directly. I used the launcher to clear cache. Nothing worked.
Second problem I was unable to ever get the first problem resolved, so I reinstalled Eve from scratch. Now I get a small dialog box from the Mac security saying:
Verifying "Eve Online"...
The progress bar is full, but it never goes away. Again, I've tried some of the suggestions & work arounds, like changing the Mac security to allow anything downloaded to run. It just never finishes "verifying".
If I used some of the suggests & work arounds to by pass the launcher, but I'm back to the black screen problem, the First problem.
At this point, I'm stuck. Eve is completely unplayable on my Mac. |

I'm a new player and I haven't been able to use the regular launcher at all. If I try to run Eve Online like a normal program, the launcher opens, gives me a rainbow wheel of death, and never recovers. For what it's worth, I'm on Mac OS X 10.8.4.
I am quoting from Fallen Merovigean's post because these are the steps that allowed me to run the launcher to get today's patch. Please note that today's patch didn't fix my rainbow wheel of death problem with the main launcher, but it at least gave me a way to update and play the game.
Thanks for posting, Fallen. :)
