I'm having trouble fitting a Sleipnir that I'm satisfied with. I was wondering if one of the fitting gurus here could help me. My criteria:
1) 220 ACs 2) At least 2 small neuts in the utility 3) 2x X-Large Ancillary Shield Booster 4) Shield Boost Amp 5) MWD + Scram 6) 3x Gyros 7) DCU 8) At least 1 T2 resist rig (kinetic)
No fitting implants allowed (because crystal set). The whole fit including the hull has to be around 700mil (plus/minus 100mil) so faction it up as you see fit. I'll give 50mil to whoever comes up with a fit I like!

I don't want to bring bad news but your ******** critia doesnt work without going officer fit or fittings imps.
you are better off googling a proper fit
DCU doesnt even matter much on heavy shield tanks. shield boost amp is a waste. better go with resistance.

This is what I'm using. SBA instead of invuln/web cause wormholes and geddons.
That (https://zkillboard.com/related/30004636/201312311900/) was in tandem with a Bro in an ishtar, he was forcing enemy falcons/rapiers off-grid while I duked it out with the swarm of bombers if I happened to not be jammed.

DCU helps for bait tanking and you also get a sizeable chunk of EHP since its a battlecruiser hull so it can give you extremely valuable extra buffer to get a reload off in a tight situation. Invulns can be easily switched off by even a couple unbonused medium neuts at which point your tank will be far less than if you just went with a shield boost amp.

ypu can drop the neuts if you want to downgrade the amp... depends on your budget lol
Hmm I'm actually liking this second fit, I was trying to avoid dual 180s but it gives better dps than 220s + 2 gyros which is all I could fit with 220s, also better tracking. I would go with a scram that would free up a fair bit of CPU, although I'm not sure what I could do to capitalize on that extra CPU.

This fit is also kinda what I was looking for, I didn't think of mixing guns as while it doesn't look nice it's definitely a viable option. I would probably just go with full 180s similar to what Chrome Striker suggested though if I went this route.
I'm still looking for more fits to see what other Sleipnirs people run, remember the criteria isn't set in stone and I would like to see what people run on dual XL ASB Sleipnirs. |

180s and 220s got about identical tracking, range and dps.
Dunno about Striker's fit, I'd cry wasting so much money (~200mil) on faction stuff that barely benefits my strategy and doubles the cost per ship.

Fair point. I loaded both into EFT and saw that yours has slightly better tank (20ehp/s tank extra with no crystals/pill/links) and only slightly worse dps (about 20dps less) for 200mil less. I don't mind spending a little extra on the Sleipnir since the hull is already 250+mil.
Now that I'm looking at it properly I'd probably swap on of the gyros on your fit for an RF gyro which gives a decent +20dps and allows for a T2 DCU which gives +15ehp/s tank and +1k EHP while still keeping the total fit at about 415mil. So far I'm definitely liking your fit the best although mixed guns is not the prettiest it really seems like the best option on this particular fit. There's also no real upgrades that can be made by dropping to a full rack of Dual180s so might as well upgrade 2 guns.
Thanks for the responses so far guys, it definitely helps! Unless someone comes around with a better fit I'll probably give the 50mil to Lloyd. |

The thing about the Sleip though, is that it's nowhere near as good as it used to be. Everything else got buffed around it, and if I remember correctly it even recieved a slight nerf with the command ship rebalance.
Dual XL-ASB Claymore though... they are scary. Solo'd 2 vindicators with one on SiSi. At the same time.

Yeah the Claymore does get the extra mid but I feel the fitting is much tighter if you're trying to get HAMs onto it so it ends up doing less dps than the Sleipnir even with the bigger dronebay. If you choose to go for a web then you'll have similar tank to Lloyd Roses Sleipnir anyway since you'll have the same number of tanking mids with the same bonus, in fact due to tighter fitting you may end up with less tank if you can't fit the resist rig on there. |

Noticed quite the contrary. With the revamp, the sleipnir's resists got increased significantly, the fitting space became much more generous with the reduction of turret hardpoints from 7 to 5, and the dps now shifted from RoF to volley damage also helps with ACs (especially 220s and 180s and their former absurd consumption rate) and your limited cargohold. The double utility also adds massively.
More concrete: Before the revamp, my sleip had to deal with 7 turret slots, needed two storyline CPUs and fitting rigs to squeeze everything in, now I can get something close to the *real* fit (=3 gyros) without relying on CN/DB scrams, RF Gyros or other things commonly used to save CPU.
The competition with the Claymore surely is pressing when comparing active fits (Pith A-type-XL or such), with the sixth mid and all that application on HAMs really kicking in hard, for 2 XL-ASB though, Sleip is far superior: The claymore becomes a pile of fitting modules with some 500 odd dps, while the sleip just hammers away with triple-gyros.

Also while we're still on this topic, how many cap booster 400s do you bring on your Sleipnir Lloyd? |

I believe some 30odd CB 400s fit in the cargo to the 18 preloaded. This and some couple thousand rounds of ammo, nanite paste, standard blue+drop.

Yeah, 36 (4 reloads) is the best I could manage while still having a good amount of ammo. I used medium containers to allow me some extra space which require some extra micro to move them to your cargo during the fight but I think it's worth the extra space it gives. Sleipnir really needs a cargo boost IMO, all active tanked ships need a bigger cargo because they need it most. |
