Today at 20:00 (ish) we had a brawl in our home hole of Lucy. Proteii, legions, archon and nidhoggurs trading blows, the usual clap trap. But this content came from an unexpected corner.
Enter stage, Provi bloc
Before I go too far in to details, lets get some context. We logged in this afternoon to a nice hole to provi out of U-HYMT. After going out and nabbing a tasty Dominix and Loki ratting, we got ourselves dumpstered by the locals after playing with two Vargurs a couple of jumps out from the entrance.
Still thirsty for blood, our Providence friends formed up as we headed back into the safety of our hole. Our scout reported a handful of protei and legions jumping in to Lucy, to which we obligued with a devoter and some of our own t3s. With low numbers (7 warm bodies) we decided to bring in triage to the hole as a few more locals started warping in. A quick brawl outside in null, we started to notice a large t3 fleet coming our way.
Jumping back in, we held reps with triage when, suddenly, the hole collapsed. A nidhoggur and several more Providence proteii decloaked and immediatly started burning at our archon (mine). I had dropped depot at the beginning of the fight, but between tripple boxing between devoter, the archon and logging in a proteus, I didn't quite notice it had been reinforced. A bit late, but now with their extra dps Provi-block broke our triage.
Check.
Desperately scrambing for some extra DPS, we quickly rallied up two back up archons and a naglfar. After a ltitle headache of bouncing off some POS mods, we managed to get our caps on field. A little late to save some of our fleet, but we managed to burn down their nidhoggur. Unfortunatly, I can't link to killmails or battle reports, but a quick search will show you the gorgeous meta large reppers in the highs. Yes. Meta large reppers. Nice one Provi.
Check mate.
With their own valiant (non)triage off field, we managed to stabilise reps and begin burning through the hostile fleet. Knowing the writing was on the wall, Provi took advantage of our lack of bubbler (having died while waiting for 2nd archon to warp in) and extracted. With good fights exchanged all round in local, and an exit for our guests organised, we stood bloodied, a little bruised, but pleased to have held against the null blob.
All in all, we lost 8b and killed 5b odd (not including the small amount of kills on the null side. While we lost the isk war, we managed to hold field with 7 meatbods (12 pilots in fleet) against near 50 Provi locals in a very respectable doctrine.

Looks like a fun fight.
That nid though :O bet he got some stick afterwards "this is not the guardian you were looking for".
EDIT: Then again with jump fatigue he was probably wondering how to get shot of it in the most interesting way possible :S |

You do know it's trivial to look you up on zkillboard, right? If operational security is an actual concern for you or your corporation, naming the ship type and factions involved in a fight in your home hole makes it super-easy for anybody interested to find your home's J-sig. Not that it's really a secret anyway; most of us end up fighting in our home wormholes a lot, so if you just dig into any corp's kill history you can usually figure it out pretty easy, as well as what fleet doctrines you are likely to encounter.
As an overzealous cataloguer of intelligence about other W-space organizations, their capabilities and typical fleet doctrines so that we have a decent chance of success when fighting our neighbours, I thank you for the information! It certainly makes for an interesting analysis, particularly the re-shipping that happened resulting in the same people coming back to die multiple times. Which is always entertaining, and a good cause to not use bubbles :-) |

Considering we lost a capital to provi i knew it wouldnt be long before this fight was known about on the killboards. Nothing is secret in this day and age of siggy, killboards and apis so there was no real reason NOT to post it but a great fight to talk about was a big incentive TO post it. TL;DR its a game and i had a blast so why not share |

Any w-space PvP corp worth their salt has some sort of intel database anyway where they can look stuff like that up. J100120 There, see? Took me like 5 seconds to look up yours. I could even post which moons your POSes are at if I where an evil person. Knowing someone's J-Sig doesn't really help you finding them much faster anyway. |

Nice write-up. We had a nice little brawl in our home with a 30 strong nulli gang that chased some of our roamers home. Much fun was had on both sides of the hole.

Provi are getting braver... though it seems to follow the same cycle every time: Get provi hole -> Kill a ratter or two - > Get blobbed in null - > Reform in WH in time to see their fleet landing the other side. Would that all nullsec was like that. |

This was the first time I'd seen providence bring a solid t3/HAC fleet. Normally it's some kitchin sink blobfest, but the vast majority of them were in t2/t3s and not terribly fitted either. Considering provi's SRP literally only covers logis/support it was a pretty ballsy move by them. |

We've 2-3 times had them drop 70-100 man BC fleets on our triage + t3s which are good fun fights and once brought a 50 man tengu fleet to try and save a system we were sieging they don't seem entirely shy of dropping the t3s into a wh. |
