Can someone point me to a good tutorial on setting this up? I cannot seem to make my mic volume lower so it sounds like I'm shouting into it when I do the audio test during the program setup. It tells me that what I hear will be exactly what other people hear so I'd really like to not blow some damn eardrums and lower this volume.
I did look in the TS options and found some volume controls under Capture and Playback but when I do the voice test after adjusting them, it still sounds obscenely loud. The only tutorials I could find focused on accessing servers and connecting your mic and whatnot, nothing on volume control. Which means it must be so simple only an idiot would miss it. Help an idiot out? |

Just lower the mic levels in your soundcard settings.
Or in the TS3 settings you should be able to lower the mic volume too.
P.s. officially this is EVE NCQA, not TS3 help. So thread lightly, let's not wake up Ezwal or LackofFaith.

To do it the easy way.
Right click the speaker on your taskbar. select recording devices. Select the mic and open the options. lower the slider to acceptable level.

Thank you. I fiddled around in my headset settings and found a mic volume, hopefully that fixes it. Sorry if I put this in the wrong place, i figured maybe other newbs might find a tutorial helpful too, if there was such a thing. |

This is indeed technically the wrong place for this sort of question, partly because TS3 is not strictly an Eve issue, but also because forums are inherently slow at giving you live tech support. I presume you need TS3 in order to collaborate with a corp / alliance / fleet / other group of people. Why not ask one of them to talk you through it via chat? They would probably be your best chance for immediate help.
I'd help but I do not currently have access to a computer with TS3 so I can follow along.

Check the Agony Unleashed wiki (it's open to everyone) and has a guide to setting up Teamspeak. |

You may have to adjust the volume settings outside of teamspeak by going to your control panel and adjusting microphone settings there. That may help. Holding the mic farther away from your mouth is not a good counter to high input levels because it will cause echo and feedback if you're using speakers (very annoying).

From my old FPS days I can say right off the bat that TS is notoriously hard to get working from a get go.
That being said you need to ensure that a) teamspeak uses the right device b) you have rights to speak on the channel in the first place c) that your windows has the devices configured properly d) that your setup is actually working e) and despite all of the above you still get an occasional "Robotti Ruttunen" in your comms. |
