Once this thread dies, can someone evict him so that we can get another shittier post like this one?
Also, watchlisted OP and WTB > entrance to his hole.

I get your point about WL. You still pissed in inverted position, resulting in more bitter tears than they should have therefore this turning into a funny conference. Cheers op. You got Dusettes here, it's a clear win-win.

You realise that is a false equivalency don't you..
Like the gun control fallacy. I do use WL for specific hostile individuals but that's exactly the problem. Now we're getting philosophical.

No. Thats practical and its not a false equivalence. They use it offensively to know when you are on to hunt you. You use it defensivly to know when they on hunting you. For more intel you must scout just like they do.
Edit: honestly this thread hasnt convinced me and the argument "the bad boys in my class are bullying me every time i come into class" isnt a good one because everyone knows that if you want to get rid of bullies you beat the **** out of them.

They want to see you explode, and they likely want your tears. You seem to be doing well on the tears side of things. Did you do something particularly offensive to warrant a long term camping campaign against you? If your corp is too small to be able to put up resistance to them, or too poor to pay someone else to do it for you, then you should fall back on boring them out. Simply go somewhere else for a while, mission in highsec, pvp in low, whatever. A few days time they'll be gone again. Sure, they'll see you are online, but not in your hole. If they have a vendetta against you then you can expect them to come and find you again, at which point just move again to a different part of the galaxy. No-one can be bothered with that for too long, assuming you haven't insulted their mother or something.
Sure, the watchlist thing is kinda overpowered, but the hunted have a far bigger advantage over the hunters. Actual targeted bounty hunting isn't actually a thing for a reason, it's pretty hard to locate and kill a specific target, even with location agents.
But one thing is for sure, sitting in your POS crying about watchlists and not playing the game is basicly a victory for those harassing you. This thread alone might be enough to encourage them to keep on doing it.
Post with your main, like a BOSS!
And no, i don't live in highsec. -áAs if that would make your opinion any less wrong. -á

I have just posted this topic at Features & Ideas. I recommend everyone here to have a look.
Maybe this topic is close to a rant, but the OP has a point. |

Well, that's several massive walls of whining...
Anyway, independently of the reasons of the OP i would like to see the watch list not working in w-space as well but also i would love to see it being removed in k-space too.
Of course i am using the watch list atm, cause it works and is very powerful and others will use it against me. Very similar to the local channel in k-space, isn't it?

Think about it this way...you are a very patient person that is watching some dude floating in his POS. Suddenly he warps out to a random location so you get very excited! Where did he go? Time to use that dscan! Better check all the sigs, maybe there's a new hole. Did he just go to a safe? He's not on dscan anymore. Did he jump through a hole? Maybe he cloaked up?
No. He just vanished from the universe. Talk about OP.

I don't think it should be removed. It should be limited to someone who accepts your watchlist request, probably linked to the 'Send notification' checkbox already in place when you add a contact.
In recompense, locator agents should be changed so they can will tell you if a person (who does not accept your request) is online even if in a wormhole. But there is a cost associated with that so it is not instant, free, recordable intel.

After thinking about it a bit, I'd be okay with making watchlists more like friend requests. Notifications only occur if they're mutually accepted by the two parties.
It's an amazingly powerful tool that really doesn't fit in with the rest of the game mechanics.
Imagine if someone actually needed eyes-on (on grid in a wh or in-local in k-space) to determine when someone else had logged in their super fleet or their triage pilots? |

Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person."

I'm all about increasing the Fog of War in this game (especially getting rid of local even in k-space), with the new D-scan Hotkey coming out there needs to be some intel nerfing in other ways and watchlisting is almost as bad as local, its free intel. I would go even further in saying that D-scan should not tell you names or ship type either (class yes, such as whether its a Frigate/Cruiser or the like). And there ought to be a delay in sigs showing in your scanner, but all WH sigs should require scanning.
Mind you these cut both ways, hunters may think they are losing valuble tools but Defenders would as well. |

We should all just promise to play the game blind folded. Then we won't need to worry about intel ever again.

1. Watch list mechanic as it is now is stupid. It should require input from the watch-listed. And locator agents should report if the player in question is active or not, for some paid Intel.
2. Having your ownership of space assets broadcasted for everyone is stupid as-well. Locator agents could get a new function to list corporate assets for a larger fee (only working for K-space).
Can live with both mechanics but that doesn't mean they are not stupid. |

No watchlist in WH would be a neat mechanic to further separate it from k-space.
No watchlist in k-space I can see both sides to the argument. Ultimately I think the game is more interesting without it. A locator agent should instead tell you if the capsuleer has been "seen active" or not.
