No. Once you accepted it and the package is in your posession, there is no way to go back. If you end it at that point, the contract is in default and you get to keep the package, while the issuer of the contract gets to keep the collateral.

It seems fairly obvious you accepted a contract and there is an issue with it as you seem to want to back out of it, LOF answered your immediate question but we may be able to offer a solution to minimize your losses. Can you elaborate a bit about the situation?

As Mr LoF said.
Once accepted there are only 2 options for you:
1. Complete the contract and get the rewards.
2. Fail the contract and lose the collateral (this can be either not completing it in time OR breaking the "box")

You can contact the contract issuer and make a deal, too.
Contracts do not auto-fail when they expire. Instead the issuer can choose to fail a contract anytime after it expires.

There is a reason why collateral need to be bigger then then the value of contents because you mailman might just nick it otherwise. |

I appreciate the help, really I do, but it's just a hypothetical question.

Though I usually set the collateral so high that I'd prefer to keep it

Honostly I didn't ship a set of skillbooks worth about 10 mil with Red Frog with a collateral of 1 bil...and was hoping it got ganked or something.

I was told next time to let them blow it up, as Red Frog insures against such losses.
Later I happened to run across the same pirate while in my own freighter, and he turned out to have a code. After bumping my freighter, he didn't continue or ransom when he saw that I wasn't AFK (I warped to the nearest thing close to alignment, rather than the gate I was originally heading towards). |
