Point I was making is that CCP have done some pretty good stuff with the model redesigns in recent years starting with the scorpion onwards.
The crucifier was a bit strange though.
I've seen the new models and I like them, they've kept the character of the old models which I wasn't too fussed on as they obviously had medieval influences in them. They are good ships to fly though and from a performance point of view are excellent. The new models are just more Sci Fi.

More 'sci fi'? What does that even mean? Define 'sci fi' please. Is Serenity not sci fi? Or maybe it's a western... or maybe it's both. There's no rule defining what science fiction is and is not beyond a requirement for imagination, not unlike fantasy. It certainly has nothing to do with aesthetics. The new model is not 'more sci fi' at all, because both the new and old are equal parts the result of a science fiction creation.

Did you miss the bit about medieval influences or are you deliberately trying to misconstrue my post in order to cause controversy. It's pretty clear what I meant, aesthetics aside... The new models are superior in every way. Case in point that new look dominx looks awesome and I hope it hits the servers soon.

Aesthetics are subjective. You're classification of 'superior in every way' is not shared by the majority of people on this thread, people who have been playing far longer than you. It's not just aesthetics we're talking about here either, it's iconography. What would happen if someone decided the Statue of Liberty wasn't aesthetically pleasing enough, and replaced it for one in a bikini instead?

I just love flying shuttles in null sec. It's one of the craziest things you can do. Like I once took a lone Brutix to the Eve gate just for ***** and giggles. Had a couple of good fights too.

I just take the view that give it a week or two and you guys will have forgotten that the lance was even there.
On balance Eve is a better game today than it was last year and certainly better than it was five years ago. You've got to trust the devs to do the right thing.
I'm happy to keep on giving you guys bumps by disagreeing with you and there's plenty of ship designs in eve that I don't like but put up with, that Crucifier for instance which is clearly and obviously flying upside down.
I'm philosophical about it though so I take the view that as long as the models retain their 'character' when they are redesigned then I'm happy to go with it. The new crucifier looks nothing at all like it's predecessor which is why I don't like it. The new models for the Incursus/Ishkur/Enyo and blackbird retain their 'Eve character' so I'm happy to trust the devs.
I'm also not too impressed with the new condor being a fan of asymmetry and all of that, so that too is a ship that has lost some of it's character and is starting to look just like some generic sci-fi and not eve online.
It's often been said before on these boards, but I'd love to see a situation where you keep the model of the ship you buy. Older designs could then become collectors editions or people could keep on manufacturing them. The market could then decide which one is best and most popular either the incursus MK1 or the Mk2 version.
Both versions of the design could have exactly the same stats and performance, just different models.
I don't see why this can't be done.
Personally I think you'd all be better off arguing for this as opposed to trying to get CCP to drop the implementation of a ship model they've already created and are clearly proud of as an enhancement to the game that they feel outclasses the old model in every which way. If they didn't take this view, they wouldn't be deploying it.
Multiple models with the same ship stats is what we all need to be campaigning on, hell even sell them as options in the NEX store.
That would be cool and would end the threads like this that pop up whenever CCP change a ship model as everyone would get what they want.

First of all, not bloody likely. Iconography, it's a thing. Look it up. Removing the lance from this ship would be like replacing the forward booms on the Megathron with lampshades (INB4 ilovelamp).
As for balance, aesthetics have nothing to do with balance. We have to trust the devs to do the right thing? No we don't, just because it's a better game now doesn't mean they're not prone to making mistakes. In you're sig you claim you're a bittervet but if you were, you would know this already.
But this has nothing to do with that. Will we still play without the lance? Of course we will. This is, bottom line, about the icon that little ship is and the special place it has in the hearts of those that have flown it, and/or died to it, or just care in general.

Of course I was a bitter vet. Was I pissed at the Heavy Missile nerf, and what they did to my beautiful drake. What about rapid heavies and the treatment they gave rapid lights. I pissed away 5.5 million sp on missile skills that became useless overnight. On balance though, is the game better as a result.
Begrudgingly I say yes. I really hate Fozzie and Rise now I've just had to say that lol..
As i mentioned earlier, how about campaigning to keep all models of a given ship class. An otherwise easy solution that satisfies everyone.

Explain why I never forgot the oldschool Cop Comet and kept begging for its return until they finally brought it back. Or why I'm still upset that the Nighthawk isn't a Ferox hull. Or why I still miss the Gallente Pleasure Hub, and CCP employees and GM's with Jovian toons. Or Supercarriers being called "Motherships" (I still occasionally use the class's old nickname of "Mom", btw). Also, it's been well over a month since they changed the Moa, and I still want the old one back (or at least a smoothed-out version of the old one). We're not kindergarteners with short memories and no sense of nostalgia. We're grown-ups that have formed an attachment to certain things because they're iconic.

Oh, there's your problem. You're a Drake pilot. Blokes who fly Drakes are typically oblivious to reality. And HML's aren't useless. You just have to fit the right rigs.
