Last night I was travelling from one region to another by means of a shuttle, because they are fast and when in empire space you can afk warp. My route was 13 hops long, 12 in empire space and 1 in 0.4 space. I thought "OK, it's 0.4 space, but I'm in a shuttle with a positive security rating and no bounty. Only a moron would waste ammo shooting at me, right?"
Well, as it turns out, one of those morons was online. He was camping a stargate leading to empire space, in 0.4 space, in what had to have been either a rookie ship or a noob in his first frigate. I was alerted to him when out of the corner of my eye I say someone on my overview flashing red (I was surfing the web while travelling) He opened fire with small projectile guns from 14 km (which in case you don't realize/remember, have very short range) and rockets. Yes ROCKETS. I don't mean rockets as in the general term for a solid fuel propelled explosive, I mean rockets. He didn't even get 1/2 way through my shields (remember, I was in a calderi shuttle, as in I didn't have any shields) before I made it to the stargate. The entire 15 seconds before I made it to the stargate was me wishing I had taken my cruiser on the trip so I could have ended his pirate carear with 1 or 2 heavy missiles, possibly a few more to save his noob ass the trip back to empire space.
I don't remember his name, or the system name, just thought I'd share a tale of someone with less brains than a*****roach.

Well last night i was in my stabber, came across a gate camp, was bored so i sticked around to see what happend, they had a cyclone, brutix, caracal, wolf, typhoon. The cyclone started shooting me, i switched the mwd + disruptor on and orbited him at 10km with my dual 180 II's, he went pop, and then the brutix decided to do the same thing...lol, so i did the same to him but then i did lose my stabber to the remainiang "gate campers" was worth the chuckle ..:)

Shuttles often contain valuable loot so they get shot at by pirates. Of course most of those with valuable stuff use instas and arent caught unless by lag/smartbombs. But knowing humans, there are probably also tards moving implants in a shuttle thru lowsec without instas... --------- ZOMG my sig was concordokkened! Isn't this the whole point of low sec that you run the risk of running into some unscrupulous pirate who is after the kills or ransom money. I am a noob who is thinking of starting his career as a pirate so please feel free to let me know if I am mistaken and low sec isn't a free for all

If you work up this much indignation over someone shooting your shuttle I can't wait until someone ganks your battleship oneday.

people with a brain would learn a shuttle doesnt mean people wont shoot you and that nothing can lock you, a shuttle still takes 25+ seconds to apporach and jump out of a system even with top skills. ____________________________________________

I'm sad. I really am. I'm sad that you didn't come through my system in your shuttle so I could put you back in the clonebay.
Because I said so...

That's nothing more but an urban legend. At least 99 out of 100 shuttles are used to quickly afk travel from A to B. Just like the other favoured urban legend by PKs: Almost all indies carry morphite and are fitted with local hull expanders...

well, even if only 1 out of 1000 were carrying anything worthwhile it would still be prudent to kill them all, because you never know when you're about to hit that jackpot and get the CNR/whatever bpc...
heck, even if only 1 in 10 000 shuttles had anything worthwhile, they'd still get shot, since those aren't all that bad odds when it's at no extra cost/effort...

I only wanted to point out, that rarely any shuttle carries expensive cargo, but that PKs like to point to that option. They in fact want to kill defenseless ships cause its so easy and increases their killmail count. Besides, nobody whith all senses on his side transports a CNR BPC in a shuttle through low sec, especially since typically only long time players will ever come into possession of such a print. And then there is good change that this BPC will be destroyed together with the shuttle.
This is nothing but a cheap excuse to kill defenseless, weak ships.

Weve blown up shuttles of war targets before that contained implants.
Imagine... moving implants via shuttle... during war time... out of your corps main base of operations (which was heavily camped).

Some times it best to just stay out of a system. I do not go through Aunenen anymore cause I made the mistake of transporting gear in my Bader with a single escort. Now the pirate has said gear and I am out many million in assests.
but to move expensive stuff in a shuttle... Madness. I have a condor that moves at 2km/s for that kind of stuff.

If i'm in a camp or already flagged I'll blow up shuttles, noob ships or anything else I can.
Shuttles and noob ships don't appear on our killboard Mostly they have nothing - rarely they drop something nice However, I don't do it for the killmails or the slim chance of loot I don't need a "cheap excuse" to blow up small ships
I do it because I can and I choose to - and, on occasion, to ransom or squish the pods.
