Greetings!
I'm using an ALT to post this so I can avoid a wardec. I'll talk to serious investors using my industry character.
My main highsec Industry character runs a small corp with a highsec POS. Very recently I was given a contract to build a large amount of T1 ships and fittings for an upcoming FFA!
I need about 5 Billion ISK to cover the capital. The order will be delivered in the same system that the product is being built in, in 3 weeks.
My plan is to buy raw materals in bulk and manufacture the end product where it is to be delivered.
For collateral I have 2 researched Carrier BPOs (both 7-14) for the both of us to get a nice return.
I'm offering a 10% return on investment!
I own all BPOs needed and I'm currently making copies for quick manufacturing.
TL;DR Loan: 5 Billion
Reason: Need Capital for Contract
Collateral: 2 Carrier BPOs both 7-14
Return: 10%, 5.5 Billion, 3 weeks!

I could offer you 2b on those BPOs, they're simply not worth 5b.

Can the person who has requested you to fill this contract not supply you with some of the Isk up-front?
Edit: Or you could take that 2billion isk offer and send them the first delivery, then the second can be built once you've been paid for the first and the third built when paid for the second. This keeps the investor safe(ish)
Because your mum just couldn't say no.

The buyer has the ISK and it's currently sitting with a 3rd party. The upfront costs are handled by myself along with 250 Million in materials in case I can't get an investor before I have to start production.
He's only willing to pay once the product is delivered, and only then...makes it easier on his end apparently!
Regardless if the contractor bails, I'm still within X jumps from Jita to sell it there and make a profit. |

Is it a known 3rd party? Or just someone claiming to be a third party?
If the client needs the ships that badly then he should be happy with partial deliveries else it sounds like this event will not be going forward.

Can't you just duplicate those Carrier BPOs and sell the copies off ad infinitum?
Also, if close to Jita, do some station trading. Three weeks should be enough time to make 5 billion.
Or, sell the BPOs for the 2 billion being offered. Then, tell your client that you are terribly sorry but you made a miscalculation and can only afford to fill half the order at the present time. I'm sure they can find another corporation to fill the other half.
You did specify that you are a small corporation. No one should fault you for accepting a contract that you only found out later is way over your head, and then being overwhelmed at the work load. Mom and Pop's corner Burger shop might be a well run family business, but they could never hope to make a half a million hamburgers to compete with a multinational corporate franchise.
If you are a high sec Industrialist, why are you worried about a war dec? Just take down the POS and don't undock. Once war decced, you have 24 hours to take the POS down. Better yet, sell off the POS and it's location, liquidate other assets, and buy them up again once you are more solvent.
Also, the math on this might be wrong, but if you kept 51% of the shares of your corporation and sold the other 49% for only One million ISK each, that should come out to about 5 billion ISK.
That's assuming that you have 1000 corporate shares. There is a mechanism for splitting the shares further in order to make as many shares as you want. All you have to worry about is keeping more than half your shares for yourself, so your stockholders don't attempt a hostile takeover.
It's easier to ask someone for One million ISK in exchange for something tangible, rather than asking them for a 5 billion ISK loan with 2 billion in collateral, and a 'cross-my-heart' promise of returning the rest of the money in about a month or so.
Shares in an industrial corporation with a high sec POS close to Jita is a much more tempting offer than a stranger with a forum alt asking other strangers (ranging from suckers to loan sharks and gankers) for a loan of 5 billion while only offering up 2 billion in collateral.
