Hey all, wondering if anyone else is seeing issues connecting to EVE Online from the UK?
I'm with BT Infinity 2 and when starting up the launcher sometimes the login prompts won't appear at all. Sometimes they will, and I can log in. At which point I get the 'Establishing Connection to Server...' dialog, and it times out with:
Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong.
Sometimes I can get to the character select screen and chose a character - at which point it then gives me the 'socket closed' popup.
Tracert to TQ gives me:
Tracing route to srv200-g.ccp.cc [87.237.38.200] over a maximum of 30 hops:

Trace complete.
Any ideas gratefully recieved

Yes, same issue as I have had, socket closed then the launcher go's into offline mode - I have made comments here Launcher in offline mode - eve forum link .
My tracert's are similar to you.
CCP need to talk to the uplink providers. Yes, that means CCP / GM / Whoever and push from both ends.
Also some ISP's have traffic shaping on them. I had to get them to update there shaping device as it did not recognize CCP's eve protocol / port at one stage, 4 or 5 years ago.
We as customer's on FTTC (I use a different ISP but a BT Openreach FTTC connection) we need to raise tickets to our ISP's for the failure in there uplinks.
The view I am taking with my ISP is that I have had there ADSL without issues for a number of years and upgraded to FTTC (on a contract). Since then they have had up link issues or changed up link providers. There failure to implement RIP2 or a similar routing protocol to cover failures is a breach of the Sales of goods act, in that the service was working and is now intermittent. I am putting emphasis that I like on-line games, and specifically Eve online and Elite Dangerous (beta), and that there failure means I cannot use the internet for one of my man usage (eve). The kids may like youtube, but I pay for the service to access online games.
Work around.....
I am using my mobile phone via a tether. the throughput is very low from looking at data sense on WP8. Game play was fine.. no lag etc.... |
