I believe this feature could greatly improve game play for many players. While I'm not sure how realistic or likely this feature is I feel that allowing instant learning of other skills could improve the versatility of our primary characters and not go "oops was that L5 skill really worth it?" It could go a long ways towards making the game a lot more fun if you realized you wasted 10+ days training a skill you aren't having fun with.
Suggested Mechanic:
- Learned skills can be unlearned and moved to an un-allocated skill point pool
- Refunded rate would be 50% of learned skill points
i.e. If it took 256,000 points to learn the skill you would only gain 128,000 in unallocated points
Justification:
- This is balanced because it remains always beneficial to map towards the proper attributes with a proper skill plan because refunding points will always be at a loss.
- Maximum skill training speed is 2700 sp/hour. At half refund, you would still obtain only 1350 sp/hr which is less than the worst case 1530 sp/hr (17/17 attribute) for directly training it.
- This would allow characters to re-sculpt their skill emphasis (mining to missioning, switching races etc.) at a cost of skill point loss.
- Primary benefit is allows more players to experience more options in the game.
- Primary negative is that it results in players being more able to switch roles very quickly changing the dynamic of the game.

Why? Its not like it takes very long to get into any one in game activity. Perfecting a particular in game activity takes a while, but thats kinda the point. |

By that logic if you go industry then you could instantly go combat with sp. the 50% refund rate is a bit crazy too some of my skills cost 30+ days for a lvl 5 easy and to refund that then it becomes 45 days of wasted skill time and not the 30. People have enough complaints over how skill training limits people because "they will never catch up to older players"

If you spend 5 minutes searching the Features and Ideas forum (which is where this belongs), you will find all of the previous suggestions for this feature and all the reasons why it shouldn't be done. |

All feature suggestions should be directed to the Features & Ideas board. However, this idea has been brought up numerous times in the past so I will instead lock it and ask that you use the search function to find previous threads discussing the same idea.
Quote:17. Redundant and re-posted threads will be locked.
As a courtesy to other forum users, please search to see if there is a thread already open on the topic you wish to discuss. If so, please place your comments there instead. Multiple threads on the same subject clutter up the forums needlessly, causing good feedback and ideas to be lost. Please keep discussions regarding a topic to a single thread.
