So am I guessing these sleepers will soon be able to engage? and have small drop drones like our drones?
CCP said something about sleepers popping up in space but be careful if your going to engage them?. |

If the Sleepers have powerful shields that's particularly distubing because the historical records say it was the Yan Jung (another ancient civ) that had the advanced shield technology. Either the Sleeper's basic shield tech is well beyond anything we have (and the Yan Jung's shields would therefore be absurdly powerful if we ever meet them) or these roaming Sleepers may actually have access to Yan Jung tech. |

Nighmare with 500 dps did fine. There are thin shields and thick armor unlike normal sleepers, nothing too hard though.
8k dps - if it was from BSes on a cruiser sized ship, there was no 8k there..

damage notifications were registering 1/20 of volley (average 350 damage per volley). If its resist profile is the same across the board like other sleepers, it's 95%
I used All level V Vindicators with Neutron Blaster II / Void which is just shy of 6600 per volley, and also split evenly between kin/therm.

8k dps - if it was from BSes on a cruiser sized ship, there was no 8k there.. it had 8 vindi webs on it, as well as scrams. No one was moving. damage modifier was effectively perfect.
But you're right, there might be some tracking error (and also my memory), and its resist profile could be 90%

What if these Sleepers really don't fight back, but are in fact gathering data or some other resource? In the past, sleepers haven't come after us unless we show up at the enclaves and endanger the Architects- what if the passivity is intentional, and destroying them will carry some future consequence?
Of course, I could be totally wrong/ but that would be interesting

Followed it when it warped off, we landed at a planetary customs office, it interacted the same way with it as it does with the unidentified structure, then came back to the site.
So I think the rock is actually a rock and the sleeper mines it and unloads result at a customs office.
But there is a problem. Sleepers often seem to confuse the rock with the celestial beacon in the site - both have the same name. So it unloads nothing.

Some guy said he saw a sleeper scanning a station when he undocked, some other guy said it scanned his ship. So I may have got it wrong. Maybe it scans objects in the system and then dumps the result to the structure.
Interesting note. It only has one visible turret http://i.imgur.com/x40HUN4.jpg maybe looks familiar to someone? Tho most likely its sleeper specific module.

Have any of these turned up in null space yet?.
You know These could actually be Jove tech super weapons that destroy Gates and systems. Look at the positioning of the sightings.
If these are super weapons and they go bang they could make the gate jump mapping completely different.
All the gates vaporized in Jove space and now these shards are popping up not everywhere but in key places. Just to elaborate upon that thought...
Perhaps this is the means for players to create and build star gates. They get destroyed, the four Empires and Concord can not afford and / or do not have the means in man power or materials to replace them, so to keep the universe open, we players have to build them. Especially if by chance an unknown enemy seeks to wage war in our universe and thus uses divide and conquer techniques by limiting star gate travel.
And this just happens after CCP nerfed light year distant jumps for ships so most players could not by-pass these divided areas. |

It'd be a cool future lore event. Say, a race of sorts. On the one hand, if enough capsuleers in enough different ships are scanned, we get access to some cool new stuff. On the other, if capsuleers destroy enough Roamers before the scan quota is met, the "cool new stuff" is used against us in some way.
Just spitballing here.

I was looking into the name of the new sleepers. circadian definition: of or relating to biological processes that occur regularly at about 24-hour intervals, even in the absence of periodicity in the environment See also biological clock..
its basically a biological rhythm that operates on a 24 hour cycle and can do so without periodic stimulus like day/night cycle.
so i hope this helps some of you figure things out.

So I had a brainwave on a couple theories based on these unidentifed structures.
Theory #1) These structures are in fact Isogen V or some other mineral in the EVE universe that will come into play. Either this mineral model has not been finished, explaining the texture work that someone posted a bit ago, or it is not "in phase" with the rest of the universe. The mineral has something to do with superweapons such as the one used by the Amarr, gates to new systems, or the Jove. This mechanic has something to do with the drones that are collecting the minerals, or they could be completely separate from the unidentified structures.
Theory #2) These are a structure designed by a race, sleepers, Jove, or one of the past races in the eve lore. This has been substantiated by the large numbers of structures that have been found all over space. I personally have seen them in hisec, lowsec, nullsec, and in positions surrounding the new celestial in Jove Space and the eve gate. If the Jove or the sleepers are monitoring us, then the new roaming drones would make sense for an invasion or another incursion-like mechanic.
Theory #3) Its related to the space time anomalies that could result in the new celestial in Jove space. If that's the case its possible that the future of eve could involve time travel.
Just some thoughts. |

Tried warp scrambling, heavy neuting, jamming Circadian Sleepers. Doesnt seem to bother, slow down or stop them. They just keep doing their thing. Scanning the structure, warp to customs office, scan there, repeatedly.
Out of several times I tried to follow the Sleeper it didnt land at the office though, couldnt find at planet or moons, and there were no other objects to warp to in that direction. So there may be a bug, or it warps off somewhere else immediatly, cause it returns to the Structure site from another direction.
If they are so interested in Customs Offices I thought it was worth a try to anchor an Office Gantry in the Unidentified Structure site. But they dont let to do it if you're in NPC corp like myself. If someone was so nice to try that...

NPC's are immune to things like scrams, as they don't actually warp/use MWD's and the like in the same manner as players do. Same for neuts, they have tiny cap but infinite regen to stop NOS abuse. |
