I have two proposed mobile structures for some feedback.
1. Mobile compactor unit
This module developed by ore as a median between orca and rorqual. 1.Has mass of 50,000 that requires a orca or similar to drop down. 2.Compression ratio corresponds to the security level of the system. For example may get 40% in 0.5 but 50% in 0.0. 3.Requires fuel blocks to maintain. This would prevent over saturation and force long term thinking of cost vs profit to operate structure. 4. Has a timer set to it to be determined by ccp. Once activated it requires a cycle before it "cools" enough to store safetly in a storage bay.
2. Mobile burst ECM 1.This is a last resort deplorable. 2.Causes a loss of targets for all ships within say 20km . 3. Has a "burst" every 120 seconds. This would create more of s skirmish feeling by forcing a quick attack and then a lull followed by attack. Once deployed runs for 10 minutes then overheats and explodes. Similar mechanic to structure explosions in missions.
Hopefully y'all like the thoughts. I did not find mentioned of these within the topic started by ccp but it's also a lot of pages.

Mobile burst is stupidly OP and mobile compactor is interesting but practically useless when you consider the infrastructure that is already in place.
There is an idea of a Gay Pornstar; some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me: only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable... I simply am not there.

1. Compactor unit - can't really see a need for it, but, I'm not much of a miner.
2. Deployable ECM Burst - this idea has some promise.

Not a fan of the burst. Just too much potential for exploitation. Also, not sure how I feel about deployable weapons outside of a static structure defense in general.
The mobile compactor has potential, but I think that requiring an Orca, ('or similar' - seriously, what is there that is similar to an Orca?,) to deploy is excessive. As has been pointed out, current infrastructure gives the option for 10 x compression with a POS. If you are proposing a mobile compactor, then I suggest that it fit inside an industrial, (not a barge or exhumer,) but probably inside a Miasmos - so maybe 500m3 - but It should require a seperate drawback to provide the standard compression rate shared by the Rorqal and the Compression Array. A few suggestions for said drawbacks include: - Compacting the ore takes a long time (5 minutes per 15,000m3 perhaps) - Device requires fuel - (heavy water maybe?) - Device requires docking to operate, much like the Rorqal's deployment. This would leave the operator vulnerable to attack.
A combination of some of these drawbacks could create a very balanced approach.

Thanks for the feedback. When thinking the burst by removing locks for friend and foe I figured it would create a balance as it is not one sided. Maybe by locking ship down close to it like cyno would help? I was aiming for a way to promote movement over static defenses. The compressor should require a large ship in order to use as it's designed to be used with an orca (giving it similar to rorqual without replacing it) a weight of say 15,000m3 seems a decent number. I still believe it should cost fuel or some material to operate but is designed for us unlucky players who do not own a pos. |
