Jita, then destroy the stargates, then allow all stations to be destructible. Battle royale time!
The allow the survivor to take a wormhole back to high sec where he will promptly lose his ship and pod to gankers. Or he will land in a wormhole system without a probe launcher and/or no wormholes to scan. Lost for all time in space. |

So watch the trailer again and pay attention to the number of things that promoted group play and the number of things that spoke to solo play. CCP did a good job representing both. Overall a good job on the trailer.
Hopefully the next video promotes a new type of gameplay to attract a broader audience.
This thread has so much content it may be 'Thread of the Year' and it is only January.

n+1 > n. In its current form if eve ever had 10 million players online at once it would need to be able to support 1 million of those 10 million in the same system at the same time. To alter that preposition we would need a drastically different sov system or to change the sandbox.

This is a good quote for people who don't understand nor how to truly play the game. I'm not saying that to be insulting or mean. It's just that, from the 10 years I've played this game, I've never really played well with others. I've mostly always been solo and yet, I still manage to get into any content I want. I mean, yes, it's difficult if you're not invited to the party, but that's what EVE is all about -- crashing the party if you want too. Who is going to stop you? Surely not the developers in almost all cases. The problem is that so many players are used to game developers holding their hands and saying, 'Yes, you should have access to this content. Let me make you a private instance and virtually remove all human interaction from your experience unless they are apart of your approved list of course." That's not EVE. No hand hold here. You get a ship, some guns and a nudge in the right or wrong direction. And for that, that's why I mentioned you don't understand nor know how to truly play this game if your only come back is, "you are consigned to high sec." No, you are not. pretty much this.
the best fun is when you crash someone's party (3-way yo!), and break their toys and bathe in the tears of both sides.
it's glorious.

While he may have been off about the numbers, he is right in the sentiment. The all time average for the life of EVE is 27,460 and that includes years of "No one knows what this game is"
The record of 65,303 was set 19 months ago and the average for the last three months is 25,030 and that includes almost 2700 dust players (who dont count).
So using a bit of math you can see the game has regressed since a peak in the 2012-2013 area, with a plateau even in 2008... meaning the game has not grown since 2008 and started its decline at a steady but slow rate in 2013.
The Veld Lord might be right, this is probably the best marketing attempt to stop the bleeding in a long time, but I don't think subs are going to increase any time soon. In fact I predict a much faster rate of decline in the coming months. |

There never was a weekly average of 65,303. Highest was a spike around 36k and now it's 26k an rising. I don't want to put much effort in this reply because you clearly have an agenda and therfore I highly doubt that the better argument will win the discussion. Anyway let me say this: From an economic point of view it is highly unlikely that Eve is going to "die" anytime soon simply because as a product it is unique and the type of player it caters to doesn't have much of a choice.
Furthermore the drop in weekly average might be indeed connected with rising plex prices and especially nullsec folks unsubbing some but not all of their multiple accounts. This would not hurt eves appeal or playability as an mmo too much since the level of real activity would stay roughly the same depite a decreased weekly average in numbers. The fact that actual pvp activity is at an all time high supports this hypothesis
That being said: Even if there was a drop there is no reason to assume CCP wouldn't be able to acquire more new players in the future simply because they do have a great and unique product and from where i'm standing that's exactly what seems to happen with the trailer and many of the changes already implementd and planend for the near future. |

Yes, but my guess would be the following: By talking about (weekly) averages and then quoting those two numbers next to each other you intentionally created the impression that the division of these numbers actually is the factor by which weekly average log in numbers have decreased. For what other reason would you quote those fairly unrelated numbers in close order? Can you name one?

Because I was talking about two different things perhaps. On one hand you have averages, which currently are below the historical total average and dropping. One the other hand you have the moment those averages started to decrease... May of 2013. If you can't understand that, perhaps you shouldn't make assumptions about my interpretation of statistics.
@Mike Azariah... eve-offline is where the numbers come from that supports the only logical conclusion available to us. Eve has not grown since 2008 and has declined since early 2013. Don't sugarcoat it. The game should have continued the modest expansion of 2006-2008 but instead stopped dead in its tracks. Furthermore first time account creation increased but total population decreased, showing that either long term players are abandoning the game, or new accounts are not resubbing. |

Why would you even mention a maximum and an average in the same sentence? You still havn't answered that. Because of that and for reasons stated before your conclusions to me seem premature and pretty clearly driven by an agenda. |
