well with the news that t3 destroyers are coming. yay! i wanted to start a thread discussing the maybe never, maybe in another year of t3 frigs, battle cruisers, or battleships. I want this thread to be a melting pot of what we would like to see in these theoretical ships.
What subsystems would you like to see for these versatile ships since t3's can change to adapt to different scenarios?
Should there even be t3 frigs since the size of them is already pretty small and there's already enough variation?
With battle cruisers should there be a subsystem to allow large guns or launcher bays on it? and a separate to boost warfare links but uses the same slot?
And battleships. Built in micro jumps? Command subsystem? able to fit a covert cloak subsystem?

I'd like to wait and see how the modes for T3 destroyers work out and if the mechanics are solid and fun, I'd have that used as a basis to rebalance T3 cruisers into modes and any other T3 be done in the same way.

ah gotcha so what would you think the "modes" would be for the strategic cruisers?
by looking at the confessor in the link for rhea it kinda looks like the destroyer would "transform" rather than choosing a new subsystem fit |

- Tech 3 Destroyers will NOT have sub-systems like Tech 3 Cruisers.
- They will be able to switch between modes like "Assault," "Defensive," and "Speed" on the fly... each mode having it's own set of predefined bonuses.
- The ship will change in appearance with each mode.
- There is a "cooldown" when you switch modes.
- This is largely seen as a new concept for Tech 3s in general. If successful, Tech 3 cruisers may be changed to be more like Tech 3 Destroyers (as current Tech 3s are either too underpowered, too overpowered, or too limited in viable setups).
- Read the DEV Blogs and run a search before you post an idea.
Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective.

the post is just a general discussion on what people might like to see for possible future t3 ships
the new concept for transforming in mid combat is kinda cool but having subsystems also has its advantages when you know you'll have a specific role to play in fleet logistics

I sincerely hope that strategic cruisers stay strategic cruisers and tatical destroyers stay tatical destroyers.

You could keep subsystems and still have T3 Cruisers work like T3 Destroyers. The (fairly extensively altered) subsystems you fit would determine the 3 modes the Cruiser gets.
Destroyers as basic pre-built 'Intro to T3' ships. Cruisers as customized 'T3 for experts' ships. |

different t3 attributes for the type of ship would be kinda cool and make it easier on manufacturers so there's still subsystems to build instead of phasing them out and allow newer mechanics to be introduced like the "modes" for the destroyers. But that leaves us back to the general topic
if they do introduce t3 frigs i would prefer a modes style since their size and making a small model that has changing parts would be a pain for the devs
Battle cruisers I would like to see maybe a hybrid and allow subsystems and modes maybe have it the modes trigger different subsystems to activate while others go offline, still would lik to see a BC with torpedoes or cruise missiles but heres to hoping
With battleships i'm kinda still lost on where devs would go with t3 versions since their purpose is mostly straight forward
anyone got any ideas for battleships? |

I'll go off on a tangent. Future t3's in the following order
T3 mining barge (yup because damn)
T3 orca (or maybe just a modular orca).
Honestly, t3's are in a wierd area. The destroyer was the only sane option for CCP to go to regarding more t3's.
The next option would be battlecruisers but they are too close to cruisers to be viable. Maybe a battleship gun t3 battlecruiser, but that would be too crazy.
Yaay!!!!

I feel like if the t3 line continues to be expanded we'll see strategic frigates and battleships along the lines of current t3 cruisers, while battlecruisers will follow the tactical destroyer line. That is to say the t3 battleships and frigates would probably use subsystems while battlecruisers would use a modular hull design.
My personal feeling is that when t3 cruisers are rebalanced we'll see their base hull characteristics move to be closer to t1 ships. I think that SP loss will probably become a thing of the past as a conciliation to any loss in over all strength. |

They need to fix the first t3s before attempting to design more. And maybe focus on those problems they are clearly aware of. Perhaps even stop blaming code complexity, take responsibility for their product and do their damn job.

- Recons are still in dire need of an overhaul.
- Blackops need.. errm.. something and a covert cloak.
- Ewar needs to be looked at.
- Missiles vs. usefulness (ditch the damn tracking already, you know you want to)
- I wouldn't mind if those sleeper cruisers were accidentely erased from the database.

Amen to that but at the same time that would make black-ops the fastest BSs in game
With battleships what are some of the main uses for the t1 variants besides the specialists i.e: scorpion, dominix, etc. Some i know is long range attack (sniper), strong tank close range webber (tackler)
I for one would love to see a BC that could use cruise missiles |
