Having a problem...scanning down some nice relic and data sites with my little Heron in W-space, but naturally guarded by many powerful rats. So I come back in my destroyer, but it's not nearly strong enough to survive either.
So what do I need to aim for? Battlecruiser, perhaps? |

I'd say a T2 Cruiser or a T1 Battlecruiser at least for C1/C2 sites. I hobble by some C2 sites in a dual-rep Brutix. C3 and below you'll need a group and increasingly bigger ships.
There are now null-sec class relic/data sites in lower class WH space as well. These have delicious null loot without the rats. |

a BC or a T3 (usually tengu) can do it up to c3 after that you can't really do those sites solo. |

For C1/C2 wormholes you should aim at near perfect cruiser / decent BC or T2 cruiser to run them efficiently enough.
Higher wormhole types are more build towards group activity
So, yes, a destroyer is far from "enough" to run wormholes solo...

Too much info about womrholes*
For your first shot at running C1/C2 I would suggest a drake. It's the go to ship because even with low skills you can fit a large passive tank, which isn't heavily dependent on capacitor (sleepers neut so active tanks can be rough without good caps kills). You can muddle by with average drake skills. As far as fitting, you want a large buffer tank with high shield recharge and equal resists (sleepers do all damage types). There are many such drake fits available on 'the google"

What do you mean by "c/1"? I have never heard of that rating system before.

There are 3 types of wormholes.
A. Ones that connect K-space to K-space. This means that it connects a high-sec / low-sec / null-sec system to another high/low/null system.
B. Ones that connect K-space to W-space. This means that the connection takes you into wormhole space (systems names start with a J and then bunch of numbers).
C. Variation on type A, they connect W-space to W-space.
Now, each wormhole system has a certain class ranging from C1 (easiest) to C6 (hardest).
So if you are in a wormhole, it DOES also matter, which wormhole you are in.
In your case, we could well suggest a good BC is needed. But if you try to do the site in a C4...you will lose it. While if it is a C1, you can run the site.

Thanks! and one more question..how do I know if it's C1 or 6? Is it listed on the screen somewhere?

It is not listed in game (well, not directly).
Though, if you ever come across a wormhole, right click > show info...it kind of tells you where it is leading.
If the text says: Leading to Unkown space > C1 / C2 / C3 If the text says: Leading to Dangerous Unknown space > C4 / C5 If the text says: Leading to Deadly Unknown space > C6
So, that already narrows down the higher ends...
However, there are out of game databases and websites where you can pull the info you need from.
Last time I checked, EVEHQ had that function in it (where you could look up the Jxxxxxx name and see which class it is).
I will let the real WH dwellers give you any helpful websites as I haven't been in a hole for ages.

Not all of 'em, sheesh.
To find out what type of system you're in there's various sites you can use. Here's a few popular ones:

As a broad rule of thumb, considering only the threats posed by rats (not the threat of hostile players):
C1 combat sites: Slightly easier than level 4 security missions, on par with the easiest ones (Duo of Death) C2: On par with typical level 4 missions C3: On par with the hardest level 4 missions (Blockade, Buzz Kill, etc) or a little tougher than that. C4: On par with the easier to middling level 5 missions. Possible to efficiently solo in a 1-2b ship. C5: Not designed for solo players at all but can (inefficiently) be soloed in a blinged Marauder. Designed for fleets without capital support (although capitals can be used to trigger escalations and are recommended) C6: Designed for fleets with capital support. Can be done by purely subcapital fleets but the escalations make it more profitable.
As for what you might want to bring:
C1 - Cheaply fitted battlecruiser, tech 2 and/or meta 4 modules C2 - Tech 2 fitted combat battlecruiser (not an attack battlecruiser) C3 - Heavy Assault Cruiser with a low-end deadspace fitout (e.g. use the cheaper C-type modules, tech 2 rigs, and the like where it is appropriate) C4 - Marauder with cheap deadspace modules, or fleet of 2-3 pilots with a spider tank C5 - Marauder with A/X type modules solo (not ever recommended), or 2 triage carriers, 2 'blap dreadnoughts', 1 faction/deadspace fit webbing Loki and a couple of battleships to run full capital escalations. Scouts and bubbles on wormholes into the system are recommended. C6 - As C5 capital escalation fleet.
