So I have played EvE for a total of about 7 months, I've got most of my core skill points finsihed up and have dabbled in some pvp (unsuccessfully) and have mainly been mining in a barge for my profit.
The reason of why I'm posting on here is because I'm stuck in EvE and don't know where to start branching out. I'm very interested in both mining and starting up on incurrsions. but i know those are 2 totally separate skill paths. My ultimate goal is to be a good asset to an incurrsion corp, whether that be on the industry side of things for them, or out there with the team fighting.
Whats a new pilot like me to do? Should I keep investing in my mining career for now?
Thanks for any input,

Have you tried joining a community that mirrors your interests or would help you pursue them?
Having an active group of people around you really helps.
Also... Incursion groups don't have solid industrial bases. They are nomadic by nature and buy stuff they need using the income they gain from incursions.
If incursions are your ultimate goal, then I suggest you start working towards being a better combat pilot. If this doesn't appeal to you then I suggest you look towards 0.0 alliances. They may have need for another resource harvester. It is dangerous work however as you will be in "dangerous space."
Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective.
"How did you veterans start?"

I have been starting to look for a corporation, it's just been a long process to find the right one for me. I haven't found a good corp thats looking to take in a new pilot. |

If you have mining skills and a 'clean' history you might be able to get into a mining corp.
From there you can turn up at a corp mining op in a combat ship, blow everything except the most expensive ship up, then ransom the most expensive ship.
Chaos is cash. Go set the world on fire, and find a way to make ISK doing so.

Hence the quotation marks around it.
All space is dangerous and safe at the same time.
After spending about 2 years in null-sec, high-sec seemed so much more hostile, for the easy reason you can't tell who is a threat and who isn't while in null it was easy...not blue = hostile and blue = likely not hostile.
@OP:
Simple, yet also complicated answer: Do what ever you want / gives you the most fun in game. It's your game, play it in the way you like.
That said, Incursion groups really don't need an industry backbone as they roam around after the incursions and thus just buy what they need on the market.
So, if you want industry, either pick an industrial corp in high-sec or look towards null-sec corps/alliances that need more industrial players to supply them with goodies.
If you want Incursions. Go train up for them, suggestion is to start with some Security Missions so you can get used to how shooting NPCs work, till you can fly a ship that gets you accepted into Incursion fleets.

If you like combat stuff and PvP there is more isk in combat than mining regardless of where you are. So in high sec that would be missions most likely in null sec running anoms is repetitive but steady isk.
If you want to run incursions then it's pretty much combat or logistics you'll have to decide if you want space priest or just laying down the damage.
Which ever way you decide to go like other's have said find people you like flying with. That's way more important than what you are doing. For everything you do there is a group of people more than happy to take on newbs and show them the ropes.
You can make isk doing what ever you like in this game so don't go after something for the isk. Figure out what you like to do and then figure out how to make isk doing it. If you don't know what you like to do then try different stuff out until you find something.
If you like mining then you definitely want to find a corp that will get you mining in null. In my opinion null mining in most cases is safer than high sec mining, more profitable and more enjoyable.
I eventually caved in and started an alt so that one toon could focus on combat and the other on industry. Years later I mostly only use the combat toon and strictly for PvE but that's my style and you'll have to find your own. |
