how would you guys handle such a problem like this.
trions failure
here is the gist of whats going on the took their servers down you their downtime yesterday that they do once every like 5 or so days and every time the servers have ended up down for 2-3 days with no updates on the situation in the last 6 hours. |

Really, does it matter.
Last time I saw this, was a long long time ago (When Lulsec attacked both LoL and EVE servers).
But I can give you an idea how they will handle it:
1. First they find Tuxford and ask if he touched any button 2. If not, they will go to the nearest volcano on Iceland and sacrifice some of the revolting hamsters to the Yule Lads. 3. After that, they will ship in a new shipment of hamsters for their server and hope they will remain normal for a longer time.
p.s. GD is the forum category right below this one on the forum page. Post this crap in there, where it belongs.

2 things you clearly don't know...
13 servers could be in the same location (Server farm) and thus be linked together and thus to the same problem.
EVE doesn't have 1 server...it has loads of server nodes working together. No single server node in the world can run the amount of data of EVE. Hell, just to give you an idea...Jita has its own permanent reinforced server node to keep it running

The game is new, network and patching issues are to be expected. Also it's F2P so you get what you pay for. I'd say they should stop whining and be a tad more realistic. On top of that, it's Trion so it's not exactly a surprise. |

ok ya i didn't know that but make much more sense but then it brings the question of why trion would try to handle that kinda work load with such a small server basis |

Simple....money.
More money = more and better servers / server farms. Less money = less or cheaper servers / server farms.

More money = more and better servers / server farms. Less money = less or cheaper servers / server farms. Also, the cooling fans stopping could be something as simple as...power going out (and no or not working back up power system). This + immense heat don't work well with electronics and can burn out stuff which means it has to be replaced.
ok thank you its sad i have to ask on the EvE community to get some answers but at least i can get a grasp of what the problem is and now I'm actualy not that pissed anymore

One failed aircon in a server room can destroy every server if the server admins are incompetent/drunk/asleep/unaware. It's happened before, it'll happen again.
That's why companies invest in DR capabilities and do DR tests so that a failure of a single server or even an entire site won't send them out of business. Or, they weigh up the risks and the costs and decide that hot having DR capabilities is better. Sometimes that gamble works, sometimes it doesn't.
Read up on what happened when New York got hit by that hurricane a couple years ago and many of the server rooms in the city either didn't have backup generators or didn't have sufficient fuel. Good, prepared companies plan as best you can for disasters and have policies and procedures in place.

Which of the 4 should apply to Tux?

Not being fully aware of the exact details (and not wanting to insult a dev by accident), I'll decline to say
We all make mistakes, I've taken production servers down before by accident. When I teach DR/backups and the like I tell the class that everyone there either has made such a mistake once or will do so one day. I only have a problem with a person if making such a mistake doesn't result in them learning better or if they keep making the same mistake again and again |

Something about Dev Enviroment not being the same as TQ...accidentally shutting down the wrong one (guess which one).
Look up the in game item: Big Red Button
So, I'm in doubt between 3 and 4...and I really hope it was 4.

Ah, I've seen the item, and heard the 'accidentally the server', just wasn't sure of the whole story. As long as he did it just once, it goes down as a learning experience (I've seen the senior sysadmin at a bank do that to a server which processed stock market trades) Now, if he's made a habit of it....

I recently left the cesspool known as Archeage. Along with having few adults in their demo, it is run very poorly. Trion is the host for a hackers paradise Koren game. Most of the game is client side so lots of hacks and dupes occur. Communication with players is barely there, with rumors and innuendo spreading all the time. Every time a hack occurs, usually weekly, the servers come down or a feature is disabled with the briefest announcement from the CS folks. It is a frigging trainwreck and not long for this world.
That being said, no other game's Devs are as engaging as those in EVE so one gets spoiled.
