I recently had a sneaky run to low sec 4 and found a relic site. I got a blue print for a large micro jump drive. There was a buyer who was willing to pay 8mil for one. I went to the station, but it would not let me sell it. Why? Is it because I am still in a free trial account?

The blueprint type you found was a Blueprint Copy (or BPC). BPCs can only be sold via the contracts system and trial accounts cannot use the contracts system.
Here are the trial account limitations.
When you say "There was a buyer who was willing to pay 8mil for one." I assume that was on the Regional Market.
Only unmodified Blueprint Originals (BPO) can be sold and bought on the market. Items have to be repackaged to sell on the market. For a BPO even just using it to manufacture will cause it to be modified, even if it's not researched (a process to improve the usage of minerals and other input materials, and the amount of time per run - and then these are often copied and sold, used for invention, etc.) and it cannot be repackaged.
For more on blueprints you can read up on them on Eve Uni's wiki: http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Blueprint
For industry overall, you can check out this: http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Industry_Overview

Also, the Large Microjump drive module sells well under it's manufacturing cost in most hubs, so the BPC is near worthless. |

Some info on why you can't trade the blueprint:
Items in Eve are of two types: assembled and unassembled. Unassembled items are all identical, and can be piled up and stacked. An example would be your ammo. Assembled items can differ from one thing to the next, despite them being the "same" item. An example is your ship, which could have damage to its hull, stuff fitted to it, or whatever else. Blueprints also fall into this category, since a Thrasher Blueprint could have 10 runs or 1 run, or different efficiencies/research levels. The only blueprints that are "unassembled" are unresearched blueprint originals, which always have infinite runs, and 0 for all other mutable properties.
Why does this matter? When you look something up on the market, you need to know what you're getting. Items need to be homogenous by name -- that is, every item by that name needs to be identical. Because of this, the market only operates on "unassembled" items, which are guaranteed to be the same. Because of this, BPCs cannot be sold on the market. This also is the reason you need to repair/disassemble your ship before selling it.
Contracts, on the other hand, do not have this restriction. This is because before you accept a contract, you can actually look at every item included in it, and see all their details. That means that, if you're paying enough attention, you can spot that someone is trying to sell you a BPC with 1 run when they are actually advertising a BPC with 20 runs.
Yay, learning things!
