At last, an update to EVE Probe. We have more things in the pipes, but we felt we were way overdue in updating.
Here's the latest installer:
http://files.eveprobe.ccpgames.com/eveprobe-0.84.9963.0.msi
GÇóWe've added one new scene, with new asteroid debris fields. GÇóAll ships are now rendered with physically based rendering, resulting in even more beautiful ships. GÇóEVE Probe now runs on Windows XP GÇóFixed an issue with running on a fresh install of Windows 8.1

Benchmark crashed after the fireworks test.
There was also a visual bug during the POS build animation - during the latter animation where the POS is deconstructed, the alpha/transparency on some windows or scaffolding of some sort on the Minmatar POS fails and becomes non-transparent.
The mining scene also looked curiously bare, I can't put my finger on what is missing, and there were no mining lasers at all. I'm pretty sure that effect was supposed to show up.
I have run previous versions of Eve Probe without issues. |

2560x1080 GPU particles can get pretty strenuous in large enough batches. My GTX Titan manages to keep the average at 140fps, though I'm also running at just 1920x1200. |

2560x1080 I guess those effects need some massive fillrate, especially at higher resolutions. They are on our radar for an overhaul, especially from a performance perspective.

The improvements to the asteroid belts will be documented in a dev blog before their release early next year. The probe scene will also be updated soon with a more up to date version of the effect which will include more atmospheric effects.
I have been following the LT progress, as well as every other space game out there but won-¦t comment anything more on them .

ok also tried this on an Acer Aspire 5738z.
Again doesnt do any of the scenes appart from the last one (2fps on fireworks)
I can run eve on this laptop too. Is this down to the scenes timing out before the renderer completes its inital loading?
Would be nice to have the option to do a basic mode test as well as the high render mode to show off your machine. Would help those trying to run eve on lower level machines to see if its playable.
Please also test the Eve Probe on lower spec hardware to see what is going on.
Cheers.

1 : 82 fps 2 : 49 fps 3 : 34 fps 4 : 123 fps 5 : 121 fps 6 : 20 fps 7 : 84 fps
Also questioning the lack of lasers in the mining scene?
Also not really testing eve in its normal working state for me, normally running 4 copies of eve 1 on each Screen (old image of my PC http://i.imgur.com/5AIMHWg.jpg ), perhaps auto starting a probe test for each monitor in fixed window mode would be a more real world test for my rig :) |

The probe launcher opens up, I click LAUNCH, then the screen blinks black a few times, then returns to desktop, tho it seems to be still running, nothing shows up. I stared to my desktop hoping that something would happen to no avail.

Which generally is over the playable at 30 fps (it's no competitive shooter guys) at the resolution of 1680*1050. Old screen, old chipset (FX 8350 4GHz, Asus R9 280 Strix, 16 GB RAM, Win7 64 bit).
The miningship seems to have no mining lasers fitted in the first place which would explain it not mining (seeing how everything else has turrets fitted if it uses them (those fits D= )).
The minni tower do have the that mentioned issue here as well. |

Running it as administrator from the same disk EVE is installed on gets me N/A on every scene, and every scene is marked with green "complete" on the results screen. No 3D visuals shown during whole test run. Win7-64 i5 [email protected] 16Gb RAM Nvidia GeForce 770 (2Gb VRAM) on 344.75 drivers
EDIT: disabling antivirus program appears to fix things. Results on first unhindered run are as follows: Scene 1 - 59 Scene 2 - 55 Scene 3 - 42 Scene 4 - 59 Scene 5 - 60 Scene 6 - 26 Scene 7 - 60 Probably means I need to disable Vsync.
Addition: secondary run with Vsync off: 1 - 98 2 - 56 3 - 45 4 - 154 5 - 144 6 - 26 7 - 92
On both runs closeup of festival launcher green explosions in scene 7 got noticeable FPS drops. Scene 6 didn't have noticeable hiccups, why it's average is 26 is a mystery. |

My first time running Probe. I also noticed the POS build animation issue, on more than one of the structures, just before the animation starts to "de-build".
I also got a hang after the first animation the very first time I ran it - This was probably because during the animation I clicked in my second monitor to do something else (admittedly asking for trouble), but I mention it for posterity. The program did not continue on to the second scene, but I did notice the tiny lights on the ships continued to animate/flash.
I had pretty dismal results, but this computer is secondhand and seems to me kind of ****-fit for this application, in my limited understanding. <_<
