I think it would be really cool if a search for a Ship Equipment item on the Regional Market returned not just the item searched, but also the named items of higher meta levels. For example, when I look for the mining laser "Miner I", I should see (maybe in tabbed results somehow):
- Miner I
- EP-S Guassian Excavation Pulse
- Dual Diode Mining Laser I
- XeCl Drilling Beam I
- Cu Vaport Particle Bore Stream I
I also think it would be really cool if a failed Tech II blueprint research resulted in a blueprint of a random named item of meta levels 1 - 4. So if I did reserch on a blueprint copy of a Miner I, and the result was a failure for a Miner II, it should stil give me a BPC for one of the variants. |

This is already available as a function of the show info dialog box. Open the show info dialog, then click on the variations tab and you will have the information you seek.

Dear sweet Amarrian God no. When I put the exact search term in, I do not want a bunch of other results that are not that exact search term popping up. |

Thank you for taking a look at my idea. I am aware that I can read the data about variants in the Show Info window. This is how I knew the names of all the variants, and how I knew the phrase Meta Level. The problem that I'm addressing is that higher metal level items, with better stats, are languishing on the Regional Market because of low awareness, and frankly their random naming conventions.
No one is really searching for those terms. Yes, you can Show Info on the base item, click on the Varations tab, click on the info icon, next to the named variant, then click on View Market Details at the bottom of the Show Info window. And I do that. But it's kind of clunky and I'm trying to imagine a better way.
Okay, I just noticed something as I was putting together this pursuasive essay. There are three tabs in the Regional Market window, and one of them is named Groups. That is where the variants are "hiding" on the Regional Marketplace. Therefore, my idea is altered to this:
- Please arrange the items on the Group tab into ascending meta level, rather than alphabetically. In fact, show the meta levels next to the icon of the items.
- And I still think it's a good idea to get a meta level 1-4 BPC with a failed Tech II attempt.
Thanks for reading.

I see where you are coming from. Google and such do this. They are designed to. In their case you maybe looking for related items and they show it. Different paradigm here than what you want to to do with the database setup ccp uses.
Eve is s sql based game. They are not google. Most appreciate the fact when in background your search for 1 particular becomes
select xyz from somedbname do stuff.....
it gives 1 result.
Kind of what you want a sql database to do. M$, Oracle, Mysql (also owned by oracle but they seem to have kept some degree of independence) and other DB vendors in fact go to great lengths to make sure this is what happens in the fastest time possible.
It then pulls up your record where ccp kindly put the variants tab. |
