I would love for CCP to start another annual tournament.
I realize we have the New Eden Open, but it's a pretty limited tournament in regards to number of fights.
I would like to see something more along the lines of the Alliance Tournament, but make it open ended. Any fleet, any person, from anywhere, and from any corp.
Perhaps even make it random teams. Drop a sign up sheet, and the people are thrown into random teams and have 2 months or so from team announcements to practice. The alliance tournament could even be used to announce it, and open enrollment.
I feel this would even have a positive effect of helping some players learn PVP a little bit better, would aid Alliances in recruitment, and allow players the opportunity to get involved in a controlled event outside of their norm, considering they likely wouldn't stand a chance in the Alliance tournament.
What gave me this idea is watching a youtuber called Husky Starcraft. He hosts 1v1 games quite often, but he also does a little something special, he calls Bronze League Heroes. Which is basically two players pitted against each other who aren't too grand at Starcraft, which adds to a bit of laughter cause they do some weird crap.
In light of that, we can call it "CCP's Annual flown off Grid Tournament" (or something funny pertaining to mistakes in Eve.)
So, where the Alliance tournament is more serious and people bet on it in a serious fashion, this new tournament would be all about laughing at all the mistakes that get made.
The Group that makes the least amount of mistakes, wins...
However, there would have to be rules that keep it from being "cheated", such as no more than two people from any give alliance can be on the same team and/or no more than said amount of people from the same alliance are allowed to join. |

Not sure why you're against people from the same corp/alliance being on the same team. Have you considered that people are in said corp/alliance because they enjoy flying with competent, like-minded fleet members? If you're concerned about unfair fights due to money, just add money or module constraints or other rules. |

I don't really have a problem with same corp/alliances, I just think it would be much more entertaining to watch what happened when you throw a bunch of random people together.
The entire point of this tournament would be to focus on not being the "worst", instead of trying to be the "best". |

You might want to include an element of double blind, where players don't know who their teammates will be.

I have not heard of it...
Questions I have are -
Is it CCP sanctioned and controlled, like the Alliance Tournament?
Is it well organized, and in a place where the players are protected for the sake of value/entertainment?
Lastly, does CCP introduce special prizes (perhaps reduced prize handouts from the Alliance Tournament) to the players? |

I would also Like to note that CCP loves when ships go out of bounds, which is likely to be a rampant issue when factoring a bunch of pilots that have no tournament experience...
That alone should be CCP's primary reason for doing this....

Alliance Tournament is the exception, not the rule, kinda like the olympics, yes they are running fast for a government sanctioned sport for pure fun and competitiveness, but every other day of the week those same winners are running from lions, cheetahs, and raiders in their home country who ARENT doing it for fairsies or funz |

Agreed, but but what does that have to do with my proposal?
Also, I would like to note that there are the Olympics, as well as winter Olympics.... |

I have an idea you want a tournament organise one yourself rather than have CCP do it. and who knows if it gets big enough CCP may be willing to get involved a little if you ask nice |

I like to watch the tournaments... Not organize the tournaments.... That said, i also cannot provide the controlled environment that CCP can... |

A consistent string of CCP run tournaments would be great for the community. There is not enough action for it to cut into activity on TQ, you in fact might find those involved teams more likely to roam on TQ as a means of practice and testing doctrines.
