If a maxed margin trading skill is supposed to reduce your escrow down to 25%, why does my market window say 2.3bil in escrow, additional 18.57bil to cover? Also, the math of the escrow values returned in the market API don't compute at all. They start out okay when nothing has sold, but then it goes out of whack. I have 175 of 1300 Robotics remaining, and 8.6mil of remaining item cost is covered by 6.8mil of escrow, so it seems like as orders deplete escrow as reported gets skewed far too high. I've consistently seen this across many items where the prices are reasonably stable. Ideas?

Margin Trading: Escrow amount = (1 - 25%) ^ margin_trading_skill_level
Each order maintains its own escrow balance. Initially, the escrow balance is filled based on your Margin Trading skill. ISK is removed from the escrow balance until there is not enough ISK to cover a buy, then the escrow balance is refilled.
So the escrow balance per order can vary from minimal buy to max limited by skill. |

Each order maintains its own escrow balance; purchases are made from this balance. Initially, the escrow balance is filled based on your Margin Trading skill. ISK is removed from the escrow balance until there is not enough ISK to cover a purchase, then the escrow balance is refilled.
So the escrow balance per order varies over the lifetime of a buy order, up to the max limited by skill.
That's fine, but escrow doesn't seem to deplete at a constant rate. If I post a buy order quantity two, why wouldn't my escrow be half of its original value after buying the first item?

No. If you have Margin Trading trained, then purchases first deplete the escrow, then are taken from your wallet after the escrow has been depleted. |

It works this way because you can change the price of an order.
Excess ISK in escrow is refunded after an order completes, if you reduced your price. |

It's gelling now. I've been trying to track down capital value fluctuations when orders get converted to materials, and now can see that the escrow balance isn't the issue.
