No, because if they did this every time they made a change to the game, the client would be too bloated to play. What I wrote to CCP in a ticket as well, and if they continue to ignore it I will keep writing them every week, is ONE SIMPLE REQUEST: Allow us to disable the focus tracking animations/change in luminosity / translucency, blurJust an option to keep the interface LOCKED in a fixed state ( no focus tracking, no animations, no blur, etc. ) ... so the brain can be focused on the things that are moving and you actually CARE about ... like ... enemy ... SHIPS. And yea, traders and other people who are clicking in the interface a lot, their eyes are getting tired really fast from all this blurry mess. I'm quite sure that would not bloat the client, isn't it ? p.s. - Ability to customize colors would be nice as well, yea. With the icons, as ugly as they are, we can live with... but it wouldn't hurt to be able to put a different CUSTOM background color on each of them! Sooooo many people would be please with just these very very simple changes to the interface. AH YES, one final thing, option to make OPAQUE NEOCOM PLEASE !
2nd p.s. - Even if all of us that do not like the new interface are a minority ( a quite large minority ), we are still CUSTOMERS. Customers which are totaling several thousand $ or Euro /month. I'm sure it would be wise for a business not to ignore that aspect ... at least try to make those customers less angry with small but significant improvements. http://xkcd.com/1172/

I'm sure it would be wise for a business not to ignore that aspect ... at least try to make those customers less angry with small but significant improvements. I have the same issue with the "selected window" transparency, Ever since this patch I find myself CONSTANTLY selecting random windows again and again while in space, the reason: I want the solidity on the "selected window" to go away, so that I can better see what's happening behind all the windows. So yeah, I would very much like no part of the interface to ever move, or change, in any way, by itself. Some of those changes are distracting, while others obfuscate actually useful things. Can't explain it better, than this. So, just shamelessly quoting both. Just a thoughts of logging back into game giving me instant headache. And that feeling repeat itself each time I'm forced to undock or go through a gate. The windows randomly changing in opacity are just a salt on open wounds - not make it any easier.

Thought I would give a "two weeks of adjusting to the new UI" update. I have been playing every day for this time.
It still takes me a minimum of two extra seconds to find the icon I want, after focusing on the shortcut bar. While it was still colored, I could find it without focusing on the shortcut bar it at all. Also the custom UI color sliders we used to have, were awesome, I'm really starting to miss those, as my optimal setting is no longer possible at all.
I would really like to disable the "selected window" transparency change, it's both distracting, and in the way of me seeing clearly whatever is behind that window.
Window borders get VERY confusing if you have a lot of them open, I adjusted to this by closing and reopening windows a lot, otherwise they become a blurry mess if I stack them. This wastes time though.
The annoying fade popup box has gone from some areas. however it still happens in others, like when selling things, and in buy price warnings. Optimally that box needs to not steal and lock focus. Due to this focus lock, I have started considering some things, like the market, to not be safe to operate while in space.
And last but not least, chat blink was what was giving me a headache, I don't know exactly what changed, but for now, I'll need to live with not knowing if channels are busy or not.

I've disabled transparency and unpinned windows that I need fast access to data from, like the overview and selected item windows. At least when they are solid, I can see the text and not be distracted by the transparency. works for now, but I would prefer to have them pinned. |

The interface is laggier than the old one, making it harder to have more than one account running at once.
The new icons are so samey, I have never in my eve career opened so many wrong windows by mistake.
The little white pixels in the corners of the windows are god awful. Just make the windows rectangular unless you're going to commit to doing proper rounded corners with transparent edges.
The WASD controls need a chasing cam and more love and attention to bring it into it's own, but I think it's deserving of more work.
The new renderer is very patchy when it comes to ship quality. Many of the Amarr ships are looking great, but other than that there are just as many ships that are looking really bad, like plastic toys rather than "real ships" like the devblog claims. I think many of the skins need updated to look good under the new system.
This.
The new icons are very indistinct and similar in appearance.

Well either their are ignoring us deliberatly or the new "improved" updatecycle forces them into new stuff instead of optimizing the mess that Rhea is. I actually dont know which alternative is better...
I mean whats the worth of all the shortly announced changes and improvements when the UI forces people into other games?

I'm really starting to question the wisdom of the 6 week update cycle.. it doesn't look like it's giving them enough time to do things properly. For example, as much as I like the confessor, I'm quite disappointed by the lack of the other race counterparts. a problem that appears to be because of time constraints. I miss the "new expansion" feel of the old schedule, the new one largely brings all the issues with the content patches, however brings much fewer new things.
Among the upcoming patch changes which the devs are focusing on now, are module tiericide, which I don't quite understand why needs to be done, and makes the names of the items boring. Newest suggestion, all the meta items between tech 1 and 2, will be "restrained" something The old names had a naming scheme which suggested they were non-standard improvements. "restrained" suggests that it's a gimped version of a better model. And an update on the exequror model, which... why? i remember the ugly ship poll, I dont remember the exequror being talked about as needing a new look, I think the DOMINIX was in the very top in ships people don't want to fly just because it's ugly.. what about that one?
I don't know how other player groups are feeling, but most of my friends already quit playing. I didn't agree with them then, but this patch is starting to make me truly lose hope.
The walking in stations cancellation thread got several responses, none of them were anything I was hoping to hear, but nonetheless, I was very happy, that at least someone cared enough to acknowledge that some people were not satisfied.
It's starting to look like the time of responding to the community's concerns is over for CCP. It's all on to the next "great" adventure of fixing stuff that isn't broken..

Maybe they should think about their update release dates then. Because making the game unplayable (even for only a small group of players) right before christmas is a bad idea?
The reason why people are posting in here repeating their valid feedback over christmas is that they are not busy being ingame which speaks for itself...
Unfortunatly those people having big problems with the new UI are not the vocal pvp/pve majority which has a big lobby in CCP, but traders and industrialists. And looking at the last patches, CCP is mostly ignoring any feedback and concerns of this player group. Instead they are catering the pvp/pve playerbase again and again.
Guess what will happen with the Starbase upgrade. I predict it will make things much worse for industry because CCP will once again think that the majority of people filling out their survey are those that later have to work with their "improvements". PLEASE CCP think about it, if you rework a feature that is only regularily used by a small minority of players, DONT rework it based on the opinion of the other 95% of the playerbase who will never use it anyways.. |

Very well said sir, and I agree
If things don't change soon like the UI changing colors while moving and mousing over windows, and ships fixed with a 2nd, 3rd and 4th pass over or however many passes it'll take to make them look like they did before soon, I'm out!
IMO ships look awful now and I'm on a very high end GFX card and comp! what we had before this change looked more real than what we have now

The statistical screens are not clear enough, they just look like a blob.

Ooh, this actually a very good point, COMBAT works fine with this interface: The parts they changed the most were all parts I don't use AT ALL in combat.
INDUSTRY however, is VERY annoying to do with this new interface, I'm putting in new research and manufacturing jobs constantly, as well as some market adjustments, and that's where the monochrome/low contrast simplicity messes me up.
3 weeks in: I still cant tell the icons apart at a glance, trying to do anything fast ends up me opening a lot of wrong windows.
I open a lot of windows when doing market stuff, when coming up with new fitting ideas, checking similar items to try to predict price changes.. and having tons of windows open really doesn't work now, the window borders just blur together too much.
The color options are a nice novel feature.. too bad that in effect I don't like a single one of them, carbon at 100% transparency is CLOSEST to what I want for combat, but I still prefer the RGB sliders, to get it just right. That setting however doesn't work well in station for market/industry stuff. (funny how I didn't need two settings for different activities with the RGB slider system)
And last but not least, I still want to turn the focus transparency change off, it's just getting in the way.
I guess the best thing about this new UI is that it.. "incentivises" me to memorize the keyboard shortcuts for everything.
But hey, COMBAT works fine. (this may or may not be related to that I don't need the sidebar AT ALL for combat, and the COMBAT part of the UI is still both in high contrast AND color)

Some of these issues was discovered in SiSi. The Blackbird camera position, the removal of the customization of the UI, etc. It was released despite that.
The real problem is that CCP give the impression that they speed up the release of new expansions, but still don't change their way of doing things. If the next expansion contain some of the asked corrections (RGB sliders or grey background themes for my case), then I will gladly admit that I was wrong. But until then, I don't still believe that they have changed, their past don't help to give them trust.
