Yesterday I was testing my Manticore. I was testing how fast I could decloak, fire, cloak. I was at 100 km from my target. I fired and cloaked again. 1 - 2 seconds later my missiles just exploded.
This bug/feature realy decreases the survivability of a SB, because you have to wait untill your missiles hit the target.
Could the devs do something about this or is it impossible to fix?

I take it you used a sensor booster to shoot?
I've read on the boards elsware that if you actually get in the "normal" sensor range (ala, 60k) you can shoot then cloak all you want and the missiles will still travel.
However, I dont own a sb (anymore), so I havnt played or tested it at all, so take it with a pinch of salt as I've no idea if it's true or not.

The same feature stops your missiles when you activate your warp drive.
The delay between cloaking and your missiles exploding is just your latency. --*=*=*--

It was some time i flew a manticore. From what i rememer off the testing i did; if i fired a missle and cloacked rigth away, the missle still hit IF the target were at 35km or closer. Over that and the missle didnt hit.
Just go to a safespot, drop a can and see what reange you need to be within for the missle to hit after you cloaked

Ok this I understand ... but why does this also happen when you cloak? Doesn't make sense. ----- The spice must flow!!! |

I seem to remember they added this feature, so you could not uncloak fire and cloak again. you have to stay uncloaked for missiles to damage only until they have hit then you can recloak. If you cloak before missiles hit, iirc the missiles hit for 0 damage.
Its been some months since i flew them though. Its coz people were firing from 200km and cloaking straight away. I may be wrong though.

The way it works ....
you cannot do damage beyond your lock range.
when you cloak you sensor booster deactivates. if it cycle has finished and is completely deactivated and the target is beyond your current targeting range (no sensor booster) then the missile will not reach the target. you have 2 options ....
1) engage within your 'natural' un boosted target range. 2) get the timing right so that the sensor booster has not completely deactivated when you cloack
this doesn't mean that sensor boosters are useless on a SB but just that unless you stay uncloacked then they are really only usefull to achieve a quicker lock.
engaging at super long range I dont really find that effective in a SB as by the time you missile gets there, your prey has run away. I tend to try and engage in the region of 30-50km max. Sensor damps help ensure you have plenty of time to re-cloack.

Nope doesn't work ... If you're using sensor booster or signal amplifier or natural locking range ... the missile keeps exploding. This is not how a Stealth Bomber should work. Oh well, the devs have other bugs to look at ... ----- The spice must flow!!! |

What you're experiencing is supposed to happen. You cannot cloak/initiate warp or your missile won't do any damage. This was implemented when people would come in at range, pop off a few vollys and then run, leaving you to get blown up. Also happens if your ship dies. Solution: don't cloak until your missiles hit and use damps.

Geeeez that it took so long before someone pointed out the obvious...Would be pretty stupid to see 10 bombers decloak fire a volley and cloak and missiles would still be happily flying and damaging..while there is nothing you can do.
Imagine this with a raven, decloak with 8 ravens, fire, cloak and instapop a hac/bc or maybe even bs in 1 volley _________________________________________________

Pity that a raven has to wait a little while after it decloaks where a bomber doesnt.

I've used a hound extensively, and (engaging between 30 and 60km) I always get my target after I cloak (or at least get my impact). ----
