I seen the promo for 79$ or what not for the collectors edition and jumped on it as a Christmas gift to myself. Excited to get it I was waiting at home for it to arrive today. Door bell rang finally here. Only to have the UPS guy let me know that if I want it there is an extra 71$ COD charge to get it....
Well isn't that a nice kick to the nads...
I live in Canada and read on the forums that people were not getting charged anything extra for ordering it. For some reason I was the exception. 71$ dollar exception. CCP has the value listed as 150$ as that is the normal price.
Just wanted to let others know about this extra charge, I did get a good deal on it until it got to my door. |

My sympathies. It's a great addition to your physical items of EVE though.
Think on the bright side, would you rather pay $150 full price + $71 import tax, or, $79 + $71 import tax + 90 days?
Check Amazon to see if they are selling the Box for a deal. They won't require a levy, and you get the 90 days retroactively gifted to you. |

As I said, sucks but again really its still less then full price so it is what it is. I checked amazon but it was a no go for us Canadians lol. Even with the extra money I am happy with it. the rifter and artbook are awesome. Not to mention the cool ingame stuff you get... il have to find someone that plays dust to sell this code to haha. |

I can relate to your problem as well as I was in the same boat you are when i bought my EvE CE last year at 50$ discount. UPS wanted 100$ in brokerage fee, which I refused to pay.
What you need to know if you live in Canada is that their are no taxes on books. I took my bill to a Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) office and cleared it off customs that way, with absolutly no charges or taxes since you can pass it off as a book.
Even if you refuse to pay for UPS to clear off your package from customs, they will provide you with all the needed paperwork for the CBSA. All you need to do is show up in one of their offices. Its much cheaper than paying up UPS trust me.
UPS provides a very poor services imo, but there's an easy way to bypass it. Dont be fooled by them.

Just for want to make sure this doesn't come across the wrong way I am in no way blaming CCP for this its more of an FYI for others thinking about ordering.
Import tax can be charged to random packages and certain countries. I live in the UK and have 4 collectors editions and never had that problem once. |

UPS Canada runs a scheme with fake import taxes.
Theirs a multi- million dollars class action lawsuit against UPS because of it, but until they are told to stop, they won't.
I suggest you contact them and tell them they never gave you the option to broker it yourself, saving the "tax" fee's. You might get somewhere, personally iv wasted weeks with those clowns.
I ended up signing up on th class action suit.
The sooner UPS Canada closes, the better. They make millions with fake import taxes and fee's. |

Yeah, I had the same issue, I had to order it online, was about 15.000kr, and toll was 10.000kr also was very disappointed that despite living within walking distance of CCP HQ, noone was willing to sell me the collectors ed, OR tell me if any local stores had it(which after searching, at the time, they did NOT)

Maybe it was that UPS guy's surcharge for having to mush his sled dogs to your trailer park.

Good.
If enough people would just tell the delivery guy to **** off and let them send it back, things would improve pretty quick. It costs a courier money to return items and the corporations that get enough returns will find a more honest courier. I've sent two monitors back to dell because of outrageous delivery fees. It took a while but I got the delivery and paid nothing for it. And the delivery company had to pay it's staff three times to deliver it (deliver/return/deliver).
Money is the only thing that matters to these people. Make them start to lose it and shady practices get fixed. Sooner or later. Stop shrugging it off and accepting the the fees as the cost of getting something delivered.

I have removed a rule breaking post.
The Rules: 5. Trolling is prohibited.
Trolling is a defined as a post that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting other players in an attempt to incite retaliation or an emotional response. Posts of this nature are disruptive, often abusive and do not contribute to the sense of community that CCP promote.

With most couriers undeliverable/refused packages get returned at the sender's expense, typically at the ripoff prices they bill people who don't have corporate accounts. UPS doesn't care if you refuse a package, but Dell cares that their profit margin got eaten by shipping charges.
There's always the option of hiring a 3rd party customs broker, but they charge about the same as UPS. |

I refuse to purchase anything that ships internationally only via UPS. I normally choose FedEx for international.
When I purchased my collector's edition (when it was first announced), I contacted support and was assured it was going to be shipped via DHL, however it was shipped via UPS.
UPS is otherwise fine for shipping within the same country. It is just their import brokering fees which are insane, unless you pay an arm and a leg for international expedited next-day, which includes brokering at a greatly reduced rate (still more than competitors).
I tried to setup a UPS account online, and that didn't work for no apparent reason, so I called them to setup an account but they couldn't do that except online /facepalm |

Gah, the dust code.. I don't own a PS3, and don't want to play an FPS on a console anyway I'll take a serious look if it ever comes to PC, but until then, the dust code has been very pointless

There should be a class action lawsuit against them for being massive dickheads in general. My cool story bro. $2200 mountain bike suspension piece arrives from the US after over a month in transit....shipping packaging worn through like it had been attacked by sledgehammers with belt sanders attached to them.....~$300 in taxes and $300 in fees. I paid them what they billed me then later they sent me a letter threatening to report me to the government for not paying tariffs.....went to the UPS store and the guy said we are a franchise we do not deal with you on this....called them.....ohhhh yeah you were billed, sorry.
Useless bunch of dicks they are. Anybody who ships to you using them is just as guilty.
