Well, offhand I'm thinking there's gonna be a couple PDS II's in the low. Even on a BC 720's is still a lot of power. I suppose if the other high's were gonna be assaults or even standard you could save some there. Make the rest of it cpu slanted, boost amp, invuln field maybe. -------------------- Juffo-Wup fills my fibers and I grow turgid. Violent action ensues.

Edited by: Aramendel on 08/09/2006 22:55:10 Unless vs angels or mercs I would rather use 2 rat specific harderners instead of 2 invuls. Why a sensor amp? Would rather use a 2nd gyro there.
Also, I personally would rather use boost amp instead an extender and not combine passive + active tanking setup, but thats might be just me.

Hello Vlad.
I'm not an expert by any stretch but I have had some great success with a Cyclone running L2 and some L3 missions (although I've moved to my Tempest for L3 recently...) Your set-up is very similar to what I have been using; 720's are fantastic for many of the L2's when you can keep range at/near optimal. Of course now that most if not all of the combat missions have been changed to Deadspace it's a bit tougher...
Anyway, I use a T2 Afterburner to help keep range etc. Plus, if I have one recommendation it would be to swap one of the launchers for a ...
TRACTOR BEAM!
Yes sir, this little puppy will save you SOOOOOO much time collecting cans after your're done punking the mobs with your 720's. For mission running I would say it is easily worth the slot when you look at how much quicker you can actually finish collecting loot. I basically approach a can; as soon as I get to within 20Km I beam it and then start moving to the next closest can while kiting the can towards me. Rinse and repeat until all the cans are gone.
Just an idea... good luck with the cyclone; it's a great ship!

The extenders are not going to help you nearly as much as amps/hardeners will. Extenders do very little to help your damage mitigation rate over an extended period, all they do is chew up some of the first wave of damage.
For missions, my suggestion would be:
5 @ 720, 3 @ assault Med SB II, boost amp, 2 @ hards/invuls, AB II or 3rd hard 2 @ gyro, pds, dcu
Switching 3 assaults for 2 heavies and a tractor is a good option for belt ratting, but missions have so many frigates that you're much better off with the assaults.
If you have to fit an RCU instead of a gyro due to fitting constraints, you're better off dropping guns to the next size down and using the gyro instead.

Heya Vlad,
For the times I feel like hiding out in empire ive been flying a Cyclone for level 3s, finding them pretty easy with the setup im using.
5x 720mm 2s 2x Limos Heavies Tractor beam to top of the highs
Large SB 3 rat specific hardeners AB
Three PDUs and a Psuedoelectric DC in the lows, I could probobly drop a PDU or two for gyros if I wanted.
Pretty much run all the level 3 missions ive gotten with no worries.

This is the set up i use for lv 3 and i do them w/o a sweat...
x5 720mm x3 assaults mainly for smaller targets x1 ab x1 invu x1 amp x1 med booster (use t2 but many are able to fit large) x1 webber x2 PDU x2 gyros
any frig/destroyer gets instapopped and cruisers die very quickly. BCs are failry quick as well. I didnt put traking enh cuz i havent needed em. Ofc i dont suggest u take this set up for pvp, or ull die a horrible death...gl
