Hiya
I believe I have come across the source of all the problems in New Eden...PBC's!
a big claim to be sure but my research is awesome and badass
You see when people work as a collective, egos become involved and if working together also brings in the plexies then money get involved too...ISSUE. in doing this fun begins to die a dramatic drawn out death (with sprinkles)
My topic is as such- what do you like or dislike about each version NPC and PBC and the sneaky OMC(onemancorps) and when your planning to join my evil legion for simple fleetup channels to do what you want when you want
it is a terrifying concept for the pbc supporters in this game but I believe it high time for a showdown between the two I promise ill be gentle

Define "excellent", and "grammar". Convicts have some of the most hilarious sayings/speech patterns ive ever heard, a good half the ones I know always sound kinda buzzed, and the others are all completely smashed, some of the best EVE players Ive ever had the pleasure of knowing, everything ends in a glorious suicide fleet, even highsec mining groups |

Yeah, that is an odd OP there, but what the heck, it touches upon a little-represented play style that I engage in. Residents of Syndicate will likely be familiar with us - we are the Center for Advanced Studies' nullsec NPSI fleet. We are not NPC corp alts for hauling or scamming or whatever - we are all main characters. Our entries in the recent tournaments? THOSE are our alts. (To be fair, not all of us are CAS - some of us are in other NPC corps, some in one-person corps, some in smallish player corps that are members of the CAStabouts alliance. Mostly because one cannot join CAS except during character creation.)
So what's the draw of staying in a starter corp for year after year? I can't speak on how this group started - I'm quite new to EVE - but I can relate some of why I've chosen to stay with this group once I found it. (And keep in mind that I've never been in a player corp so I could be mistaken about some aspects of how those operate.)
Everybody does what they want. We can mine, or mission, or explore, or roam either solo or in a group, all at our individual discretion. We have a nullsec NPSI a fleet, a wormhole, a mining fleet, occasional Incursion fleets...
The veterans do the normal EVE things, but as a group we're very focused on helping new players when they come by. We welcome into the group without API checks, we create jump clones, some members give out ships from our person stash, and we try to impart what we've learned.
There are no CTAs, no pap links, no minimum participation levels. We can log in daily or once a month, we can go off anytime and do other stuff in EVE and be welcomed back when we return. For many though it's our daily EVE activity.
We have no corporate assets that are vulnerable to theft. Every ship that one of us flies is one we gathered the resources for personally, by whatever means. We're not concerned much about spies or awoxing either.
We never get yelled at for losses - I've seen some nasty comments on corp killboards directed at players who've lost a ship and hurt the corp's ISK efficiency. Everybody's loss is their own personal loss. Along those lines, our kb doesn't track losses - there's no way to pull losses of just a particular subset of the many CAS players.
This has led to a play style where we aren't afriad to lose ships so long as we get good kills, in contrast to logi heavy or kiting gangs that seem primarily to want to minimize losses. Since we don't have any fleet doctrines, you'll almost always see us in kitchen sink fleets, each player bringing what they'd like to fly at that moment. (Subject to the FC's preference of course.) That means there's also a ton of individual initiative when fighting. No anchoring on an FC and being an F1 monkey. We're all expected to know the tactics to fly whichever ship we're in and contribute to the fleet appropriately.
It's a diverse group of players, with several different continents represented. It's not utopia - sometimes there are personality conflicts, but we generally have an expected level of civility on behavior, both towards each other and our targets. (The NPSI fleet has no enemies, just targets. For that reason we're not blue with anybody at all - that would reduce the number of potential targets, although we have on occasion teamed up with different groups for a particular fight now and then.)
The disadvantages? Well, we'll never hold SOV, never have supers or Titans, never have an SRP, our ISK making opportunities are limited I suspect... We'll never be as effective at structure grinds as player corps can be - although a member will occasionally set up a personal POS - we'll never field an apex force fleet, never be a part of the large newsworthy events in EVE...
Personally, I see zero reason to join a player corp now that I've found this group to play with.
(Sorry for the wall of text - it's a slow Saturday night and I'm above-average age for EVE players anyway. ) |
