I was thinking... it would be cool if we could choose to play non-empire races and I've taken the liberty of doing some brain-storming:
-They could have their own galaxies and ships, and exist purely to raid empire space (pvp bandits basically). -They would access empire space via WH technology. -A new highly unstable WH to a random empire system would open every couple of hours or so. -Their journeys could be one-way trips, the aim being to destroy as much tonnage as possible on each trip into empire space. -Leader boards will show who had destroyed the most tonnage. -Players would be rewarded with new ships/equipment depending on how much empire tonnage they destroy.
Gankers are gonna gank so why not incorporate it into the game's narrative...? |

Because players need to all be subject to the same game mechanics. Not have a free pass to ignore concord mechanics whenever they choose, especially with alts existing. Don't like that other guy mining your Ore, SANSHA ALT DEPLOY! Also because Sansha are all controlled and Hive mind, which an NPC AI makes a perfect job of simulating. Rather than a player who will ignore targets just because they are friends. |

The pirate factions already have ships. And space. And you can already go from empire to NPC null via wormholes. You can even do it in ganking ships too!
Leaderboards and rewards though, that's a thing for the players to create and run themselves, not for CCP to do.
So...what was your suggestion again? |

Players can choose to play as an alien faction who come from a completely different galaxy to the one Eve is set in; Aliens who specialize in local raids on random highsec systems.

Yes, I know. My idea is an extension of the Thea solar system model. And yes, a new race would mean completely new alien ships.

yes I know, I'm talking about entire raiding fleets warping into a randomly selected Hisec systems. There's no comparison with existing game mechanics (-except maybe Burn Jita).

I'm confused, who are you to dictate what can and can't be done by CCP? Why else would folk want to do this unless there was some sort of reward system? (i.e. new/better alien ships for them to fly on these raids, or infamy from total tonnage destroyed).

-The way to avoid this would be for one cyno/WH [alien warp technology] to open in one random system per day (give or take). The raiders can't use gates, so are limited to causing death and destruction in that one system. As a further safe-guard against bias -how about no player names or solar system IDs are displayed (these guys are from a different galaxy so there's no reason why their HUDs would display the same info we are privy to). Their goal is simple: scan **** down and blow as much of it up as possible. Once 24hrs is up, any survivors are warped back to their home galaxy.
I forgot the Sansha are 'hive-controlled' -they were probably a bad example. Basically I saw the new anomalies in game today for the first time today and thought "Wouldn't it be cool if you could play as aliens from that distant green galaxy who's soul purpose is to cause as much death and destruction in Empire space as possible".
Putting a cat amongst the pigeons in a game as old and set in it's ways as Eve can never be a bad thing? |

EVE is a game about humans. There are no aliens in EVE. Why should there be? What would you expect your 'new race' to actually be able to do? If it was brought in tomorrow, would you expect them to achieve more than the occasional isolated gank for the next six months to a year while people trained up the skills on these new accounts?
A full blown race would be what, fifty, fifty five new ships? All of which would need to be modelled, carefully balanced against everything else that exists, tested etc etc, which is kind of a big ask. Why spend dev time on that, blocking new features for who knows how long, instead of the stuff that's actually in the pipeline now?
And player fleets warping in and 'raiding' highsec systems would d what, exactly, that groups like CODE or the ministry of love don't already do? Or would this new race be immune to CONCORD?
Also, CCP have never run a killboard. CCP have nothing to do with the killmail whoring you're complaining about. (Though I would like to see you explain your reasons that the support ships, EWAR, tackle etc, do not deserve any credit on mails. Why should joe newbie who tackles someone's billion ISK ratting BS, not get the full value on his killboard?)
And people would do this for the same reason people gank things in highsec already. For fun and profit. And tears too. |

I find it a mind boggling stretch that there are no other space faring creatures in EVE other than humans. Granted that our New Eden "galaxy" is only a few thousand solar systems instead of a few 100s of millions this makes sense though. Our so called "galaxy" is more like a much larger version of the Orion nebula. |

I slightly agree - why indeed should people be forced to play in carebear space at the start? What about old accounts wanting a bit more flexibility? Perhaps not Sansha but other pirate factions for more story reasons. Although you're then really asking CCP to develop new entities where there's a clone of each ship but with a different decal, causing CCP to predictably take the position of changing how the entities work in the engine to accommodate the massive surge of alternate ship skins. In whichever way they implemented it, it would be interesting to add a new aspect to starting EVE. Although it might work slightly differently to normal high sec space - instead of CONCORD it would be the pirate faction police force and your protection would rely on your standing with the pirate faction. |
