Not sure what to do about this... I'm getting a very wierd red flashing on top of Ships, Stations and sometimes planets. Top of the line Radeon 6900 here with 4GB of Video Ram, with up to date drivers (I updated them about 2 weeks ago).
I can't even show you though... because it doesn't show up in a screenshot (they look normal). When I alt-tab and come back it goes away... but then when I change systems it comes back.
Any ideas? |

Okay good to know it's not just me... I guess. I found that alt-tabbing and coming back fixes it 100% of the time. Until I dock/undock, or jump to another system. |

I've got this too
5870 crossfire
It doesn't show up in screenshots and it used to do it to the old login background when you pressed esc. Now the problem is it isn't doing it in the new login background but it's all in game and it makes it unplayable.
This is obviously a game issue and not a PC one and it done it after I installed a fresh copy of windows 7 too. |

Well the current version is catalyst 11.11 which I am using. If your using 11.10 or something and ther working please report back, not really in the mood for trawling through different driver versions to find one that works. |

Installed the latest drivers right from ATI last night after this happened, had zero effect fixing it. Only items that worked are ALT-TAB out and back in, or switch Shaders to Medium. |

I saw a few posts about this in other forums, but they got locked because Moderators said people were duplicate reporting an issue... Not sure exactly where we should report this. I filed a bug, and they would like me to attach a dxdiag to it.. so I'll do that when i get home I guess. I'd suggest everyone file a petition or bug about it. |

Even though SOE suck their community guy over on Planetside always responded to every thread and passed it on to the developers and then came back with a response. CCP on the other hand never responded to the old login screen issue and they wont to this. People say how great they are and they listen but do they ****, as worse as blizzard, Activision and EAs customer service.
Like yeh I'm making a new thread because the one you linked me to, the issue will get drowned out by all the other peoples issues. I'm going to keep making threads until the problem is fixed or my now cancelled subscription runs out because I paid to be able to play the frigging game.

I have a similar issue as well with 6970s in crossfire using 11.11 drivers. It looks a little different though; same colour but everything is centered around my ship (which makes it worse). It almost looks like the light rays as viewed from my ship are red and opaque.
Hopefully there will be a fix soon; I'll try setting my textures at medium in the mean time. |

Check disabling Crossfire please, and if you have it active, Catalyst A.I. as well (or set it to the "Quality" setting). Try having every other setting in the driver on "Application Controlled" as well, wherever possible.
The fact that this does not seem to appear on screenshots at all suggests that this is rooted somewhere within the driver. Eventually, if you have been updating drivers over a while, try a clean install of the drivers, meaning completely wiping the current driver and any residue of older versions using a driver cleaner tool of your choice (simply uninstalling still tends to leave traces, sadly) before reinstalling. I am also having the same issue.
I have two crossfired HD 5800s. I just updated to the 11.11 drivers hoping to fix it, and it didn't work.
Another player suggested changing the Presentation Interval under display settings in game. It stops the issue for me as long as I remain in the current system/station/playfield/etc... But as soon as I change to another it returns. It doesn't matter what I set the PI to, all that seems to matter is that I change it. |

I tried a clean wipe of the drivers as GM Karidor suggested. While it did speed up my computer a little (which is nice), it did not solve the issue. His suggested work around with disabling CrossfireX was successful for me as it was for Zenjin Vonavi. I do hope that there will be a true solution. (Other than switching to Nvidia.) |

Was having the similar problem pre-crucible on the login screen before i installed 11.11... plus this is the only game I'm having any issue with. When you say it's not an EvE issue I feel it lets CCP off the hook. CCP needs to get this taken care of with AMD. Not me, and not you. Previous posters have stated they were having this problem before upgrading to 11.11. We're gonna be 1 patch into crucible now and it still hasn't even been commented on. |

Just for the info:
Having the same problem on xfire Mobility Radeon 5870s with 8.763 drivers and on desktop xfire 6950s. Tried 6950s with 11.9 and 11.11 drivers - no difference.
Had no problems on either 5870s or 6950s (11.9) before Crucible expansion.
As a temporary fix enabling or disabling HDR helps. After 1 - 5 jumps the problem reemerges so you need to keep applying the "fix" which does get annoying. |

Ok Ladies and Gents and CCP Dev team --
I am having the same problems and some additional ones for the devs to look into regaurding Crossfire issues - I hope these descriptions help in solving crossfire problems in the future.
1. The red flashing - same as everyone else (this seems to start after an alt - tab and while using gates and jump bridges in groups)
2. Faint Light ripples like the refresh rate is having issues (this seems to start after an alt-tab) - have not seen this mentioned before - this occurs after every alt-tab period, and without exception.
3. Eve allowing a maxium of 3 alt-tabs before not allowing any further alt - tabs ( ctrl - alt - del has to be used in place and you get strange color pallets while it switches to the ctrl - alt - del selection screen where you can choose task manager) inevitably it requires a system restart to clear these issues.
At least for me -- Most of the issues start with an alt -tab - if you have not noticed.
Good News however Folks -- I have a workaround for you at least until the Devs fix it. You probably won't like it much ( I know I don't)
Set Eve to run in windowed mode or run in fixed window if you have multiple displays. This moves everything onto one card even if you can't disable the crossfire due to your driver version.
Let me know if this fix did not work for you guys -- it does work for me -- I am Running Dual 6850's on Win7 - 64bit. |

Well you have fixed the RED FLASHY TEXTURE MESS from being visable, shame you havent fixed the underlining problem that was causing it, carefull monitoring of gpu usage before and after the patch show the same behaviour, the gpu overhead of rendering the RED FLASHY TEXTURE MESS was about 20% on both cards (tabing out and in again removes the 20%) Now after the patch the RED FLASHY TEXTURE MESS is no longer visable but some of the other slight glitches that was hidden in the RED FLASHY TEXTURE MESS are, including the 20% overhead. This is the way to put the game in, what Im calling from now on "INVISIBLE RED FLASHY TEXTURE MESS MODE" Step 1. Set all graphical settings to high. Step 2. Enter game Step 3. Open the ingame browser (This is not to look at ****, but rather the browser itself is sensitive to "INVISIBLE RED FLASHY TEXTURE MESS MODE") Step 4. Open the ingame FPS counter (This is not to check FPS, but rather the counter itself seems to be sensitive to "INVISIBLE RED FLASHY TEXTURE MESS MODE") Step 5. Press escape (This is not to escape, but rather the darkened screen and menu's are sensitive to "INVISIBLE RED FLASHY TEXTURE MESS MODE") Step 6. If everything looked normal in steps 3-5 undock or jump. Step 7. Keep undocking, docking or jumping rechecking steps 3-5 after every undocking, docking or jump. Step 8. KEEP GOING!!!!! it is random, it may take a while. Step 9. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! you have entered "INVISIBLE RED FLASHY TEXTURE MESS MODE" Yes, the ingame browser is suffering from slight intermittent graphical corruption (hard to explain corruption, that is transparent in nature) Yes, the FPS counter is suffering from slight intermittent graphical corruption (hard to explain corruption, that is transparent in nature) Yes, the escape darkened screen and menu's is suffering from graphical corruption, but its not intermittent or slight (Its like a tear from the middle of the screen down, shades of black and its moving up and down somewhat) Yes, even slighter and more intermittent graphical corruption may occur anywhere on screen (transparent in nature) To exit "INVISIBLE RED FLASHY TEXTURE MESS MODE" tab out and in again |
